In town to run the New Orleans Rock and Roll half marathon with my daughter.

I gave her a huge long list from places you folks have recommended over time that I have bookmarked. I've never been to any of them. She came up with this list of places that most intrigued her.

Peche
GW Fins
Mr. B’s
Coquette
NOLA
Atchafalya
Emerils
Herbsaint
La Petite Grocery

Not a bad list based on my following of this board.

Good list. And good luck finishing the half if you make it to all those places.

Good list, but if you have to knock any off, I would take out Fin's, Mr. B's, NOLA, and Emeril's.

The other places are a step above imo. (When referencing Atchafalaya, I'll assume that is for Brunch on Saturday or Sunday).

We thought this one through. We arrive Saturday around noon. Race is Sunday morning. We leave Tuesday night. So plenty of eating times.

Thanks Fun Bunch. As to Atchafalya, not really sure. She looked that up. I'm assuming you recommend that. They do Monday brunch it appears. So that might work.

Any of you ever been to Seed? I'm Vegan. I eat dairy, fish, chicken, beef and pork. And eggs. So I'm not hardcore vegan. But I have heard the place is great.

Also thinking about Creole Creamery.
And Carousel Bar.
And Pat O's and Cafe' Du Monde. I know, I know, but I like both places.

Heard. I was thinking Monday would be a good day to hop on the streetcar and go that direction anyway.

Damn New Orleans and it's too many options!

Get off at Washington with the other tourist and walk down to Mag, stopping for a pic in front of Commanders. Sightsee through the neighborhoods and wind up at Atchafalaya for brunch. Go back and walk down Mag hitting a few shops and such and make your way to Creole Creamery and you are two blocks from the Streetcar.

Or leave Atchafalya and walk to Audubon Park/Tulane and hop a streetcar back down to Upperline and get Creole Creamery.

Get the all day pass streetcar for $3 (exact change or else you get a card with your change).

I’ve been to Seed. I mean...I wouldn’t add it to my list if I’m visiting Nola but it’s ok Vegan food.

I've been probably 5-6 times? I like it, but we've figured out exactly what we like there and seldom deviate from that. We've had a fair amount of duds from the menu.

I personally prefer Carmo for that style of food.

Good point.

Staying at the Q & C on Camp Street.

I'm sorry to ask this paranoid question, but are there places we should avoid in and around that area, Peche, between Q&C and the Quarter etc.

We would like to walk mostly I think. So walk to Pat O's or the Carousel Bar and places like that.

Also any dress code worries? We would like to stay casual. Nice jeans and collared shirt for me. Khakis if necessary.

I appreciate all the comments and help.

Rather than going to two Emeril restaurants on one trip, I'd drop one of those for something else. Brigtsen's is a suggestion, although it may be a little late to get a reservation there. It's closed on Sunday and Mondays and only open for dinner.

Headed to New Orleans later this month with some family. Had to work with desires of all. Ended up with:

Arnaud's
Clancy's
Peche
Shaya
Gabrielle
Italian Barrel

You will be fine. Just don't go on the lake side of Baronne/Bourbon. Lake side of Baronne in the CBD isn't unsafe, but it's not heavily trafficked after dark. If you wanted to head to the Willa Jean/Company Burger area, that also would be fine. Lake side of Bourbon is a no-go unless you are super familiar with where you are headed.

You should be good in that area, but be aware of your surroundings.

You’re good with jeans or khakis and a collared shirt at all of those places.
