an under $20 pinot that was worth a damn.
Almost non existent domestically speaking. Talbott Kali Hart is solid around $20 though.
So many US pinots are over extracted or blended with something in order to produce a fruit bomb. It makes me so mad because Pinot noir shouldn’t be so full bodied.

Try Pike Road.
I was Feeling the same way about all the valor do is Pinots I was Drinking.
As said below, Oregon is making some great Pinot Noirs. I think being farther north helps a lot.

One other thing about Petite Sirah. I don't know how old you are, but I can remember back in the 80's when it was pretty much impossible to find a good California petite sirah. I don't know what happened, but there has been a marked increase in quality since then.

I’m a big fan of it. Really good oak on it for such a low price.

It had a pretty big decline around then, and up until the last 20 years or so, it was just a blending grape. Wine has exploded in popularity in that same timeframe so I think it’s a combo of people being more adventurous/willing to try new varietals as well as winemakers finding out they can make good marketable wines from lesser known varietals. Michael David is a big example of this. They have petite sirah, petit verdot, cab franc, carignan, etc that you don’t see many people making as a varietal wine.

Is that a relabeled wine from Stags? Or do they not have a cheaper Napa Cab like your Kirkland is?

Stags leap district is just an AVA in Napa although the 2 wineries share that name.

Bogle serves as an awesome pre-Hurricane drink.

No it’s Kirkland brand bottled and cellared by DC Flynt. They have an Oakville that I believe is 19.99. The stags wine only gets released 3x yearly and pretty much sells out the minute it hits the shelves.

The LastBottle wine marathon is going on right now, which is like a rapid fire Woot for wine. It's pretty fun. The deals and quality vary, but there are some very good wines mixed in and some very good deals as well.

I had Sequoia Grove cab pretty tasty for the price. Bought the Lytton Springs Ridge for tonight.

The first time I had the Boucaner red blend it was great. It just didn't taste the same the last two times I had it.
That being said the Boucaner Pinot Gris is great.
I haven't found anything better in the low $20s than the Daou Cab from Paso Robles.

So, is this going to be the "Wine Thread" like the "Whiskey/Bourbon" thread?
If so , maybe change the title.
Or, I would be all for starting a new one. Would like to get into all kinds of stuff, like corkscrews, aeration, glasses, and, of course, all the millions of different wines to drink. :)

I got a bottle of Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva at a restaurant this past Friday and was very happy with it. I'll have to keep an eye out for it and get some for home.

I just bumped the one we used for a while. There’s always interest in it so no reason why we can’t!

Picked up the 2016 and 2017 over the weekend. Really enjoyed--thanks for the rec.
