Your point still stands—the guys who created the sandwich called it a “poor boy”.

And it was meatless. Fries and gravy on french bread. It has evolved. Things do.

Toss a half pound of fried shrimp in there and dress it with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Most everyone else calls that a poboy.

Seriously, I don't give a damn what people call it. It's a lame argument for the most part.

You've never had a true shrimp poboy without the contrast of the salty, somewhat spicy shrimp and the tangy mayo.

Yeah, mayo is essential for me.

My dad’s a 9th warder. He says “poor”, but it’s not the way Fitzmorris says it. He certainly doesn’t say Po like the authors same.

There’s a subtlety in the native tongue. It’s like someone from Crowley saying “boy”.

ETA: to the OP, I’m not a huge fan of the surf and turf. I really like the shrimp and roast beef by themselves, I don’t think they are better when combined.

The only thing I really thought was bad from Parkway was the catfish. Thick nasty filets.

Do they still have the rum pound cake at the register. That’s a must get.

Don't like debris roast beef on a po boy. That is what Parkway serves.

I always hit up Parkway when I go home but there's definitely better places. It's a sentimental stop for me, because my grandparents lived near there and always brought me there back in my increasingly distant youth.

Has anyone tried Avery's on Tulane yet? That's my next "new place" when I go back next time.

Avery’s is great although their poboys aren’t on par with Parkway

Parkway doesn’t serve a debris style poboy. Or at least mine wasn’t.
