It's my second favorite actually...even though South LA natives hate on it.

To each his own (that's why I started this thread. No one's wrong when it comes to what he or she likes), but I just think Mike A's is vastly overrated. If the place had a dfrnt name, would anyone still go?

I have a love for Juban's that's more nostalgiac than anything.

Yeah, food's not bad...I just have sort of stopped eating all the fried seafods that I love so much. I wish I didn't have to, but I spend 12 hours a week in the gym and have to cut back on some foods. So Mike's, Chimes, Ralph & K's, etc. are not as good to me as I once let them be.

Som 3 pm on a Friday huh? Are you getting fresh portions? What do you like there?

yeah, the onion rings are outstanding there. Overall, it's just not my favorite place. In my opinion, Sammy's is better and 50/50 would agree/disagree with me there.

A post like this is almost meaningless unless you have spent a great deal of time eating all over the state. I have to laugh my arse off at best pizza as Past Times and best service at Chimes though.
You are right, it is each persons own thoughts.

that made me wonder too I have seen some nasty arse crap go on there. I can get chimes-like service and better at any chain in America, don't see why you consider it so special Pisces. I don't see how best service would not be at a Commander's, Galatoire's, or similar type restaurant.... that's where I've had mine, or a place where you are a regular and they know what you are going to order and don't give you a menu.

I have lived in 4 cities for three or more years in all 4 in Louisiana. I eat out a lot. I don't eat at all of the 5 star establishments, but have been to a few. I think I am qualified to give my overview of the way I see things.

Glad you see that it's my own thoughts and tastes. Pasttime's Pizza always puts me in a good mood...it's been a staple food of mine since I was 9. I know several people hate it and claim it's freezer pizza, e.g., but I will always love it. A few guys will back me up on that.

Chimes East has been totally on point since i started going. Maybe I just get lucky.

I have eaten there six times and every time I have made a point to say to myself and my company..."She did a great job. She gets a lil extra." Like I said, maybe I have been lucky, but extra condiments, timely refills, friendly service, and no mess-ups - how could I not give it to them.

I am not judging good service based on how fancy of a place it is. Of course, Commander's is going to be top notch. I've never eaten there. When it comes to Chimes East, I give it to them, because the service was above and beyond what is normally expected at a place like that, Walk-On's, Outback, TJ Ribs, etc. etc....being pleasently surprised is the great part about eating out at the average Joe places.

That place has a fine roast beef po-boy, drive north and you'll be impressed.
