I went over and registered and when I saw the shipping price opted not to order.

I did the opposite, I bought two cheeses to spread out the shipping cost. The Vallagret by itself was $30 something with it all, but adding a $23 Edam brought it up to $57...IDK, my logic may have been faulty.

nahh It's just a lot of cheese though. Took us a month to go through a Cabot extra sharp brick from Costco.

For that much cheese, $57 doesn't sound all that bad. You want to cut one of those in half or into 1/4?

If you are ever in or around Philadelphia MS and want some good cheese try Williams Bros.

My parents live within walking distance of the MSU cheese store. I cut the Edam balls into 1/4s and vacuum seal each 1/4. The cheese will last a long time in fridge.

I've got a ball of edam in the fridge right now. It goes faster than you think because it's so good. You won't let it sit in there long before you are getting ready to order another.

I went by there and bought 3 edams, a cheddar, a jalp cheddar, and vallagret 3 weeks ago. I also stocked up on some muscadine ripple ice cream. Always good stuff and makes great gifts.

I sent ten pounds to my mom and have about 3 pounds left in my fridge.

The vallagret makes great grilled cheese. I definitely prefer it to the Edam.

As long as it's sealed, it should keep fine in the fridge longer than you'd think. What's in my fridge was from the first shipment last November. I cut the ball of Edam into eighths and individually vacuum packed each eighth and stuck them in the cheese drawer. I ate some yesterday and it's still delicious. The vallagret didn't make it this far.

It's a shame they haven't figured out how to ship during the summer. Come August, I'd be willing to pay a premium for them to overnight it packed for perishable in a styrofoam ice chest.

WTF is in that Edam cheese? It has 25g carbs in a 1" serving?

MS State cheese is delicious. In college, one of my roommate’s girlfriend’s dad would give him a giant block of cheddar from them once a year. Even between four people constantly eating it (plus other people that would come over) it felt like it lasted a good while.

That has to be a typo because they list 0g fiber and 0g sugar. No way you get 25 carbs with the others being zero.

That's what I thought as well. Also, 25g carbs is a ton for cheese.

I just heard back form the sales manager at the MSU cheese store. The 25g carbs for the Edam is a misprint. They are working to fix it. I asked for the correct nutritional information. He is sending it to me later today. Ill post when I get it. I know it doesn't bother most people, but for some of us that;s a deal breaker.

I just did.

Here is the response from the cheese store:

quote:

.4g per serving. So the 25g would have been closer for the entire 3lbs. Based on information on the box, there are 48 servings per container. So that would be 19.2 carbs per ball.
