Yea, I don't understand what people want from chimes. They have one of the best beer selections in the city, they have great prices with a very balanced southern style menu, and they put out good products. Not to mention the original location is basically on campus. One of the best restaurants, for what they do, in the entire city.

I will say that I've had way better service at the one in BR than the one in Nola...long story short I went to the one in Nola after a concert with a group (since every other place in the CBD was already closed or too $$$) and the restaurant was only 50% full....never again.

This. It's not pretentious. Menu is better than most bar food. I have zero grievances with the place.

There's a ton of people I know that rave about the place for some reason

Exactly. It's like calling Tony Romo an overrated quarterback.

Raising Cane's
I never understood the all the hype about overpriced chicken fingers, ore-ida fries and toast.
With that said, I wish I had thought of it. It's hard to knock success.

I enjoy the Chimes and I've never had a bad meal at either location

My list: Fleur de Lis, Dearman's (low hanging fruit, I know), Fleur de Lis, most of the seafood restaurants in south Louisiana, and Fleur de Lis.

Agreed -- I think it's good, but far from spectacular.

I guess maybe I don't appreciate The Chimes as much, due to the fact that I'm a non-drinker. The food is pretty mediocre, so it irks me when people ask for food recs and people say The Chimes.

No wonder you come off as such miserable drama queen.

I'm a fan of Fleur de Lis as well, not because the pizza is the best, because it's certainly not, but for the old-school ambiance.

Haha so apparently every busy restaurant in Baton Rouge is overrated. They must be doing something right.

Acne Face Oyster House
They should tear that bitch down and put a Chicken Shack there.
Galatwats Bistro

Shack there.
I'm just saying bring that knuckle suckin goodness to a location where I'm not afraid to enter after dark.
