Nola.com article

I'm a Cafe du Monde person through and through, but I'm glad to see them back AND with a Bud's Broiler right next door in the same building...

Has anyone else felt that they made a stupid decision by moving out of the Quarter?

Last night there was a 21 gun salute outside. Nice to have a warm welcome from the community.

It only took 2 years, which is like a month in New Orleans time.

That corner is going to be a fuster cluck, especially with work traffic and the stupid rotation of the lights at the end of Canal by the cemeteries.

The light on that corner going W on City Park Avenue coming from City Park is the longest red light and shortest green light in the history of the world. I try and avoid it at all costs.

Lest we forget, that newsstand also sold the race track sheets, and a lot of folks would get the form and go next door for their Cafe and beignets as they picked which horses they'd bet on later that day.

If on Canal and catching the light at City Park Ave., the light cycle is as follows.

City Park Ave. heading toward Metairie/downtown on Canal goes first. Then City Park Ave. coming from Metairie heading toward City Park goes next. Then a repeat of City Park Ave. toward Metairie/Downtown.

Finally Canal to turn toward Metairie Rd. and the Expressway or toward the Park or Canal Blvd. toward the lake. that's why traffic needing to turn toward Metairie/Expressway in the left lane on Canal is backed up 3-4 blocks every afternoon between schools letting out and then workdays ending.

That whole intersection is a shite show. And two new restaurants will only make a bad parking situation worse.
