I went to that vietmamese place with a star an be the two star Minibar while there and they were both good but i had better meals at other places. Good food in dc though. I just think our base line in Nola is higher than most other places.

I usually dont like ultra fancy places.

I wouldn't call Saint Germain ultra fancy. They have been in the past fairly casual in terms of ambience and service. The food is higher end though.

They also were very affordable for what you got for a very long time, but I believe their menu is now in the 150 neighborhood.

Turkey and Wolf.

Mason Hereford’s fried bologna sandwich is probably the best dish in New Orleans right now.

The smothered greens grilled cheese blows that away.

That’s not even better than the grilled cheese sandwich at Galatorie’s.

Hot Stuff on Maple had a pretty killer Spaghetti and spicy Italian sausage on Monday. Best red sauce I've had since Red Gravy closed a few years back.

I think Coquette should be recognized at a low level. Had they kept the tasting menu option they could have been bib gourmand but as it is now I think Plate level is possible.

There's absolutely no question that Turkey will be on one of the lists. Hereford is a darling of the national food scene

I had a good meal at hot stuff but i didn't like the last plate i had. I wasn't too try that bagel place next to them.
I think Turkey and the Wolf is hype and that Steins around the corner has better sandwiches.

Man you people and clinging to the past. K Paul and Emeril were great 40+ years ago. I get it.

But have you ever put potato chips on a sandwich? The old guard of New Orleans does a good job remaking the same (and let’s be honest, boring) classics. Mason is breaking down barriers and reinventing the way we experience our food.

Blue plate is better than Duke's i will die on that hill.
Mason had some good ideas but he's overhyped.

If I want may for a sandwich or po boy you cannot beat Blue Plate

if I am making like a mayo based sauce i will said the consistency of Duke’s is easier to work with.

I like his food but some of his stuff is just so far up its own arse. i’m sure it tastes fine but sometimes I feel like it’s way too much “trust the process”

All good places but none of those will get stars.

I've heard through the grapevine that SG already knows they are getting at least one star, which is why they have gradually raised prices over the past year instead of doing it all at once.

Emeril believes they are getting at least 2

If August didn't get at least one star the system is rigged. Before Besh went down that was mainly the most haute style restaurant in town.
