Tuna wraps are one of the better small plates in town.

Order the buttermilk biscuit and ask to have it served with a scoop ice cream

Order the upside down cornbread with pineapple and bacon jam as a dessert even though it’s listed on the menu as an app

The gin drink with cucumber and jalapeño (think it’s the No. 30). The pasta with lamb is amazing, as are the candied ribs and croquettes. Meril has been one of my favorite places lately for small plates and drinks.

It's ok, I'll never go back.
I prefer Emeril's.

While that’s certainly understandable, the two restaurants aren’t really targeting the same clientele or desired result.

But in the category of upscale casual, small plates, cocktails - type place (which Emeril’s is not), Meril is tough to beat.

I went this past weekend and came away disappointed. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the place but none of the dishes were outstanding.

The Korean ribs came out room temperature and dry and the brussels sprout salad was swimming in its dressing.

A few of the other small plates such as the chicken livers and smoked fish dip were ok but nothing crazy.

It seems like the type of place to start a night but not make your full meal. The accoustics are extremely loud in addition to the already loud music they had playing. Plus the service was very rushed (it was a very crowded Friday night so I guess this is somewhat expected). I will say that my cocktails were all well made.

It’s one of those places id go to once - my enjoyment level has declined on each subsequent visit.

The concept is cool but the menu is so diverse it hurts the quality of the offerings.

Agreed. Meril is similar to Dante’s Kitchen for me. The complexity and inventiveness of the menu hurts the overall execution of each dish. Both places have been one and done for me.

we went last nite after the game, got there a little after 10 and it was packed. We had a reservation but the hostess was so rude we wound up eating at the bar which wound up being a good idea, service at the bar was fantastic

great bar area, great drinks and comfortable to eat. We had vegetable flatbread, Korean short ribs, roasted oysters and pork tacos, 2 drinks each and it was just over 100 bucks. The food was just ok I thought, certainly good but nothing exciting. Each dish was pretty one- note

comparing the flat bread for eaxample to the one at Willa jean, no contest. Willa jeans is much more flavorful and exciting. There was t anything we ordered that demanded another bite

I'll try it again one day, the bar is reason enough to go back

I would never go back either.

Be sure to tell them it’s your birthday though!

We really enjoyed it, the price wasn't bad and everything we had was good to great. We tried several different menu items, had dessert, and drinks. For two with two apps, two meals, a dessert, and 3 drinks it was like 80 bucks.
