I've been to Meril about 4 times since it has been open and just don't enjoy the food. The atmosphere is great but the food is pretty weak. I have some coworkers that love it.

Thoughts?

I enjoy it as a "fun" type of night out. I think earlier today I posted the same thing. If you go with 3 other people that are cool with trying new things and sharing then it is awesome. I would never go there with just one other person and order an entree.

I've only been once, but I enjoyed it. I'd definitely return.

eating at the bar is fun but I wouldn’t consider it for a seated dinner
it’s loud and crowded

Too expensive for too little food. I get that it's supposed to be a "sharing" restaurant and they even tell you that before you order. But that's dumb. Make portions big enough so you can offer a bite to whomever you are out to eat with and still have enough to be full.

Apparently you don't get it.

I like the food. Don't like the portion size. I won't be back on my dime.

Food is good, but this is true.

I've been twice, once I paid and the other was on someone else's tab. I'll go again for the latter situation.

I've been twice and enjoyed it. Both times were with large groups of people, so we got to order a ton of stuff and share, ended up trying half the menu and thought it was pretty damn good.

Off subject but first week it opened I was in there at the bar. Girl I was with asked bartender if he would ask Emeril, who was walking around restaurant, if she could get a picture with him. Bartender dead serious: "If I spoke to him or asked him that I would be fired on the spot."

True as far as what the bartender said. I guess he was mistaken but it certainly kept us from asking. I didn't care either way but she sure wanted that pic.

I’m sure he wouldn’t turn down a picture if asked by a customer. I know a lot of people who have pictures with him

He prob makes it clear to his employees that he doesn’t want to be a sideshow while he’s in the building and wants them to focus on their job and not bother him bc he’s usually working too

I work at his place in Destin, and that isn't true. However, he doesn't want to stop for pictures if its mid rush. Although he can be intimidating to employees and customers, he's super dining experience oriented.
