Houston is a giant place. Obviously. And I know we have a lot of Houston folks around here.

What are the best restaurants, non chain, in the area. Particularly for BBQ or good meat options.

Also, any good spots to run close by or things to do?

Im sure I will get pushback but I think Goode Company BBQ near Memorial area on I10 (or Kirby location) is some of the best in the city.

Some BBQ options that are a drivable distance would also include Truth and Roegels (Voss Rd) - about 15 minutes. A little farther brings Pinkertons, and Brett's in Katy into play - probably 25 minutes.

I drive past this going to my kids baseball games all the time and it looks nice from the outside but is in such a sketch area that I haven't given it a chance. but there are quite a few hole in the wall places off long point so I will have to try it soon.

a lot of good spots mentioned so far.

If you go a little farther out there is Just Grk and Pizaros Pizza. Roostar on Gessner is solid. Masraffs and Treebeards are good as well.

Running - you could run through the neighborhoods behind the mall, or go to the buffalo bayou hike and bike trail that runs from beltway 8 to bush park.

What type of things are you looking to do? kids? just adults?

Don’t miss the bone-in veal parmesan at Jonathan’s the Rub on Memorial. Eddie V’s at CityCentre has the best ribeye and martinis. Joy Love on Memorial @ Dairy Ashford has excellent cheeseburgers. The original Lupe Tortilla on Stafford Street for beef fajitas and margaritas; El Tiempo on Gessner for everything else.

I’ve been a few times and it’s always consistent. Only problem is parking can be an issue on weekends.
