Manda used to be really good and not expensive.
But when the Manda family sold the company things changed.
Manda used to have a really good smoke flavor and color.
Now when you cook a link it basically has the look and texture of a hot dog.
Verons is down the street and the Sheets family are great people and there sausage is my personal favorite

I’ve never understood the Internet/TD hate for Manda. Everyone I know loves it and it’s a Baton Rouge staple. Why is everyone so quick to hate on a local family company? I see 5X more Manda in the grocery store than I do the others, so they gotta be doing something right. If you like another brand, cool, but why you gotta trash the other? I have the privilege of knowing pretty much all of the Louisiana processors. They are good people. Buy them all.

I’ll close by saying this: I’ve never seen DD or Savoies or Richards sponsoring events and charities in Baton Rouge. But Manda is always there. Think about that.

The family never sold, it’s still family owned. There are no family members named Manda left, but the family there is still the Manda family.

I am not buying Manda over Veron because they donate more money to charities. I do very much appreciate they do that tho.

Man, I’ve seen their operation. They are not a cheap sausage. I don’t know why y’all think that. There’s a couple more LA companies that use a lot lesser Ingredients than them. I will say this, Manda has kept up with the technology and change to keep up with USDA changes. They are prepared for the future. Some of the other companies butt heads with the USDA daily and won’t be able to continue processing 10 years from now.

They also use work release prisoners to work in their plant and one I’ve talked to that was in there, said he wouldn’t eat anything from there.

They are not my first choice, but definitely not my last by a long shot.
