Maggiano's Little Italy Btw

I use to live next to one in Elmhurst IL. Tell me again why we need one in Nola?

Even in BR there are plenty of Italian restaurants way better than Maggiano's. Just a few

Ninos
Ginos
Palermo
Digiulio Bros
Pinetta's

I’d rather have a bd's Mongolian Grill

Nope. On that, you are dead wrong.

Now the comment on how expensive Pappasitos is, is spot on. They are way over priced.

Would I prefer El Tiempo, Ninfas, Irma’s, etc.? Well, hell yes, but for a midweek lunch, Pappasitos food quality is fine.

That's cool if you don't like it. I'll add a few more. The point was simply that we don't need an Italian chain restaurant. There are plenty of decent to excellent local options.

Ruffinos

Ruffinos is crazy overrated.

Is it bad? No. But, I’m a Gino’s fan.

I would agree though that BR isn’t the best canvass for Maggianos.

Yeah it’s a chain but don’t act like it’s freaking Olive Garden. I have only been to the one by the galleria here in Houston and it’s a pretty nice place.

Ginos, Ninos and Digiulio Bros are the best Italian in BR imo.

I dont keep up with the , ahem, Baton Rouge food scene.. but why are they closing?

I remember working at the old Cortana Mall circa 1992/93 when i was in a school at LSU, and this guy from New Jersey comes in to buy some stuff and tells me he’s opening this Italian restaurant called DeAngelos since BR didnt have many Italian restaurants back then.. I left BR shortly after, but was kind of surprised driving thru 15 yrs or so later to see billboards all over and (i think) multiple locations.. too bad they’re shutting down.

I've eaten there a few times. It's not bad by any means. There are just better options already here.

How many DeAngelos’s are left? I recall at one point they had one in Colorado and Indiana plus 5 or 6 BR locations and one on Northshore

Definitely agree on Maggiano's Little Italy for Baton Rouge. Their family-style dining is very good.

My understanding all the Louisiana locations are shut down. I didn’t know they had any of out state.

The decor and overall atmosphere at Maggiano's is very nice, but the food is very meh. I used to inspect all the locations in the Chicago area and most of their kitchens are pretty dirty.

Would go to any of these before eating at a chain restaurant.

They are chains with Sysco food

1) What is your impression about what “SYSCO Food” is?

2) Where do you think “good” restaurants source their food from?

Maggiano's is part of the Lettuce Entertain You group out of Chicago. They do not franchise, but they do cluster their restaurants together. I'm not sure Baton Rouge could support any of their other brands (Wow Bao, RPM Italian, and others). New Orleans already has a thriving dining scene and it would be difficult for an outside, lesser known brand to break into the market.
