The wife and I are thinking of heading into Houston for a late lunch today. Any recommendations of a place with good food and drinks, with a nice to fun atmosphere, would be greatly appreciated. Looking to maybe try a different spot. Doesn't have to be the best food in Houston, but we'd like good food at a spot that makes good cocktails. Not looking for some romantic setting, but not like Woodrow's sports bar either.
Just for reference, last weekday lunch outing we did, we had lunch at Eugene's, then after walking around some stores she wanted like Restoration Hardware (Thank God she didn't buy anything
), we sat outside and had additional drinks at Tiny Boxwood.
Last Saturday, we ate a very satisfying lunch at Cadente.
Up for any location other than downtown or the NE part of the city, since we'd be driving in from a SW burb. But anything from Galleria area, West U, Rice Village, Greenway/Upper Kirby, Heights, Montrose...all good.
Thank you in advance. You are all very beautiful Ladies and Gentlemen of the highest societal order.

Hudson House is a good spot. One in Rice Village, also one in River Oaks.
I feel like a shill because I always recommend this spot, but it pretty much nails your criteria

The wife decided she was in the mood for sushi and those little steaks you cook on a hot rock, so we went to Sushi on Post Oak. Had never been there before, but by the time we were leaving the house, the other good sushi places in Houston we knew of were closing for a couple hours before dinner. Looks like a lot of the Asian/sushi places do that.
We had never been there before, and we enjoyed it. Good, friendly service. Good was pretty good. The old fashioneds were made a bit too sweet for my liking, but overall a pleasurable experience.
I’ve got several of the above suggestions now stored in my Google Maps for other ventures.
