Does anyone know if there's anywhere in Baton Rouge where I can pick up one of these already assembled, without paying much extra (if at all?).

I think Lowes has one on the floor, but those are just for display only right?

See update below about the steal I got at Target.

Lowe's will assemble and deliver for free if the grill is above a certain price I think.

You guys got an Ace Hardware down there? Free Ace rewards membership gets you free setup and delivery.

Everything on display at Lowe’s is for sale if you talk to the right person. Ask to speak with the zone or assistant store manager, explain to him your situation, and see if he’ll let you buy it. All he can do is say no.

Wow, check this out. I just got an amazing deal:

I tried my damnedest to get Lowes to sell me the floor model. More than I'd care to admit just to avoid having to assemble it. They offer free assembly but it would have taken two days. I'm impatient. I figured I would just go to Ace Hardware on Monday, and moved on.

I went next door to Target to get some other things and saw that they had grills huddled in a small area kind of out of the way. One of them was the Weber Spirit II 310 and it had a price tag of $449 which was the same as Lowes. They had some clearance stickers piled up nearby, but nothing on the Weber.

I go to the customer service desk to ask if I can get that one and the guy gives me his complete attention and here's where things get awesome.

He checks it out to make sure it's not a "for display only" model because those have missing igniters. Everything looks good, so he rolls it up front and it's 50% off! On top of that he gives me an extra 10% for taking the display model.

So, I wound up getting it for $202.50 which is less than half of what I almost paid at Lowes.

I get home, hook a propane tank to it, and it fires right up. Gonna start grilling in a few minutes..

Why the 50% off? Is this everywhere? And how many were left?

Looked like they needed the floor space for something else.

That was the only Weber Spirit at the Millerville location, but they had other models there. Mostly the charbroil brand. The other locations may have some as well.

I am under the impression that they just decided to put them on clearance and that I was the first to get one. He said some of the gas models are missing parts since they're just for display so you have to watch out for that.

I grilled some burgers on mine tonight. Worked like a champ. Gets hot a lot faster than my old cheapo grill. There were a few loose bolts that I had to tighten, but other than that it is solid.

Advice to others, do not buy this model. If you are going to spend $400, spend a little more and get the Genesis.
The Spirit is only worth about what the OP paid at Target. It does not hold heat or get as hot as the Genesis. I've used the Genesis for over 15 years. Over this time family and friends always raved about the way it cooks. When it came time for the inlaws to finally buy themselves one they went cheap and got the Spirit. One time cooking on it and they knew they made a mistake. Live and learn, and good luck to the OP.

Be really careful with those knobs. They strip easily.

Meh. I've had a Spirit for 5 years and it works just fine. I don’t remember the model, but I didn’t pay near $400

My Weber Spirit has been a grilling machine twice a week for about 6 years. No complaints here.

I scored a Genesis 310 last fall for $380 with tax on a similar deal as the OP. It's been a great addition to my Weber family.

I've had a good experience with the Spirit too. I thought it didn't get hot enough at first then I started grilling with the lid closed like Weber recommends, and food comes out perfect.
