The best sandwich day of the year! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Toast two pieces of bread. Then place your turkey as the base layer:

Next add the ham:

Next crawfish dressing or whatever dressing you have on hand:

Next is the green bean casserole:

Next is the gravy:

And finally the cross section:

Enjoy!!

I prefer just some cold turkey on fresh bunny bread with mayo and mustard.

I go pretty plain. Chopped fried turkey, brown mustard, pickles, on toast. And cornbread dressing, of course.

I love a white meat on white bread with mayo and a dash of black pepper.

Dad's last Thanksgiving (3 years ago now) went bad for me when I tampered ever so slightly from the above. I had the above sandwich and it was so good just an hour or so later I went back for another. However retrieving the goods from the fridge I spotted the head of lettuce and since the outer leaves had started to rust a bit I dug in some for non rusted leaves.

So, I had white on white with mayo and just 1 leaf of lettuce. Within 15 minutes my pancreatitis kicked my azz. I swole up like Santa Claus (literally from rail thin skinny to morbidly obese looking) and the resulting pressure compressed my heart and lungs turning me blue. So much swelling my shoulders (scapulas and clavicles) were trying to separate painfully as everything tried to go somewhere as the swelling pushed everything in my belly in all directions. So much pain I started sweating like I was taking a shower. Too swollen to curl into a ball in the floor I tried pacing around in the cold garage in nothing but my underwear to break the sweat. When that didn't work tried laying flat on both my back and stomach, no relief.

Just as I reached the breaking point of my pain tolerance and started to reach for the phone to dial 911 is when it peaked. And about an hour later the swelling resided to where I only looked chubby fat and not obese. That was about 2 hours after chewing up a hydrocodone 10mg.

Moral of the story: While these other sandwiches look and sound terrific, I'm gonna stick to white on white with mayo and a dash of BP.

Yep, lettuce, common iceberg to be exact.

My version of pancreatitis is weird. Healthy foods screw me up. I cannot eat salad but I can eat corn or potato chips all day every day. I cannot eat any part of radish, cooked nor raw. Even tap water can set me off depending on treatment (think it's the fluoridation and not chlorination). Coffee and tea depend on the water used to make them. I can drink carbonated stuff without problem, probably because they use distilled water. Distilled or purified bottled water is OK but bottled tap water again depends on the water treatment at time of bottling.

Last time that happened to me, I was rewarded with a beautiful baby boy.

The swollen belly is kinda similar in that pancreatic swelling is higher up on the abdomen like early pregnancy. Beer belly is generally lower down like late mid term to near birth.

But, since I've always been male with no plans to change, producing a baby anything from my belly is ruled out.
