I can look at your pictures of those lobsters over and over again and then I wish I was your neighbor and good friend, so I could attend one of your spectacular lobster events.

We used him the last few years for Christmas. Always do a lobster cook and he has saved us a pile of money going through him.

Lobstaman HOOKS IT UP! I would highly recommend him. The ones he sent us were HUGE and they weren't expensive at all. We steamed them.
After the initial grub sesh w butter we fridgerated the meat and made lobster rolls on day 2. Gosh damn they were good. I saved half the shells / heads and made a kick arse lobster stock & bisque.

Lobstaman is legit.
I rather stir fry lobster than steamed.

Does anyone know if there is a specific season or is it year round?
I'm currently working at a restaurant up here in Stonington, Maine. According to the locals, Maine does $125 Million in live lobsters each year and 20-25 million of that comes out of this town.
They do lobster fish year round but the best time is right now. June-August. June was a little cold up here. Still 55 degrees around mid june at night. once the water hits 65 degrees, the lobsters shed their shells and become "soft" if you will. These are called shedders and this just happened last week.
One of the lobster fishermen I know told me its starting to pick up in terms of numbers. They just got 800lbs yesterday and they won't be super excited until that number is over 1200.
Fun fact: Lobster off the boat price in June was $5.75/lb for regular hardshelled ones. The few days around the 4th they hit a high of $6.50/lb. Now that they are shedders they have dropped to between 3-4/lb.
Feel free to ask me any lobster questions.
ETA: for those of you with smokers, grab a tail that's uncooked and cut it in half. wash the eggs/guts out of it and brush it with butter. Throw it in the smoker for about an hour on 275. It's so delicious.

Bump to ask if anyone had another similar source because his prices have doubled since this thread and a dozen quarters are now $250.

Noted on his page that "prices are increa[s]ing due to low fishing volume." During Spring & Winter lobster quantities are low so prices would generally be higher?

I think summer is the best season for catching, thus the higher supply and lower prices at that time of year

I was hoping to get some for Good Friday, but I guess I'll wait until prices level off in early summer.
