Same with Zacapa XO for me. It's nectar of the gods, but I can't pay $95 for rum.

Botran is suppose to come from the same distillery and much less.
Try the Kirk & Sweeney (veeery smooth suggested by another poster in the Whiskey thread) I posted... or the Doorly's INCREDIBLE VALUE

There is no better rum in my opinion than Centenario 25. Actually the 30 is marginally better but twice the price so the 25 is the sweet spot.

Flor de Cana Centenario 25 .. I am assuming that's your choice....
very good rum, somewhat expensive.

Give Doorly's XO a try for $ 20 or less.

Thanks for sharing..(Dzama) I find a little too much taste of vanilla for me, but that's why there are so many brands.
BUT, it is not bad.

That is definitely their niche. Hard to argue with a $3 bottle of cuvee noire or blanche when you are in the sticks with no other choices. I got these and nabbed a “10 year vanilla” last time I was over there.

I think I have some of that kicking mule from Louisiana which made decent daquiris at a gathering.

try the Doorly's XO .. one great bargain, you will be impressed with the smoothness of it for less than $20
I am from Cuba and have had a lot of rums and it is as good as any, better than most.

I just tried a suggestion by another poster and bought Kirk & Sweeney, also excellent,
but Doorly's XO can't be beat at less than $ 20 or so.

Great cocktail.

And a Bottle of Rum by Wayne Curtis is a great book if you are looking for a rum read. Has a chapter in there about this guy who lived around corner from me who has amassed the world’s most exhaustive rum collection.

My favorite I've had is Ron Santiago 12 yr from Cuba; really well balanced, not to sweet. Perfect.

I'm a fan of Brugal & Pusser's, but if I'm drinking rum I'm normally having a Dark & Stormy, and for that there is no substitute for Gosling's. I picked up a bottle of their family reserve "Old Rum" last year and it's phenomenal.

Have not seen it in the US, do you find it here?
where ?

I try to get the Caney Rums and CUBAN Havana Club (Selecciones de Maestros) when I have friends that go to Cuba. Santiago the birth place of Bacardi.

I brought some back with me from a Havana trip last year. I've found Havana Club in duty free shops outside the U.S. as well.

Just searched and Master of Malt has it

I've ordered from them before and had no issues, their customer service is very good.

Flor de Caña is pretty good but I like Centenario much better. It was $80 for a two-pack at the duty free.
