Reporting on 896 Rum .. 5 yr.

Bought it because it was on PROMOTION and had
a RATING of 92.
Very disappointing.
It was a very BAD rum to dink neat, harsh and just did not taste good.
I, with others drank it with coke and was not bad, actually towards the good side, but not need to stop buying Bacardi Añejo for my cokes.

Looks like they’ve got a white rum and spiced rum. I’ve only had the white rum but enjoyed it

Bought this bottle last week.

I would agree. Solid. Not earth shattering, but went down pretty smooth on the rocks. It's a bourbon barrel blend, which are generally not my preference, but had very little of that flavor profile in it. Was $35 at Specs.

Zacapa is solid, but save money and if you can find it get BOTRAN, same distillery.

The Doorly's XO is actually smoother and at $ 20 or less !!

Great read, thanks for posting. A Havana Club (3 year) Mojito is just about perfection. HC 7 & 15 are 2 of my favorite sipping rums for special occasions since they're hard to get.

Lately my go-tos are Papa's Pilar Dark & Bumbu.

That sweet Bumbu paired with a Fuente Hemingway Signature cigar is fantastic

I have my buddies bring me the HC 7 and the Mulata 7 (not found in the US) from Cuba.

try this one if you find it
it is said to be from the same distilliry as Zacapa
along with the DOORLY's XO (best value)

Not a Rum aficionado but do enjoy 10 Cane over crushed ice with a lime twist.

Where are you getting 10 Cane? I didn't think it had been sold in years.

It must be some old stock. What I see online shows it was discontinued in 2015. Better buy all you can if you like it.

Well damn! Like I said not a big rum guy so rarely do I go down that aisle. I do like it though. I'll have to make a pass and see if there is any left. Thanks for the heads up.

Kirkland's spiced rum. Love it. I think it may be made by the same people that make sailor Jerry. Has a high proof but good flavor. Sneaks up on ya.

ETA: not made by sailor Jerry.

I don’t drink a lot of rum but I thought I would pull a couple out tonight just for this thread. These will do in a pinch.
