legit Lebanese tea recipe

I’ve always loved Lebanese tea from Alabasha and elsewhere, but no recipe I found online ever quite replicated it. I heard a rumor from a friend that they use country time lemonade mix, and after messing around with a few ratios I got something that tastes nearly identical. Here it is:
Ingredients
————————
8 black tea bags (Luzianne, Lipton, etc)
2/3 cup country time lemonade mix (2 quart line in cap)
1 teaspoon rose water
4 quarts water, divided
Pine nuts (optional)
Instructions
————————
1. Bring 2 quarts of water to rolling boil in pot on stove
2. Place in 8 tea bags, remove from heat, and steep for 4 minutes, then remove tea bags
3. Stir in country time lemonade mix
4. Fill pitcher with 2 quarts of water (or ice to chill quicker), and then pour lemon tea mixture into pitcher
5. Add 1 teaspoon rose water and stir
6. Chill in refrigerator until cooled
7. Serve cold with pine nuts as garnish
I kept seeing a recipe circulate online that called for 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice and cane sugar, but it just never was right. But the low brow lemonade mix was the way to go. If this isn’t the exact recipe, it has to be 90% there I swear.

If you like this, go to Humas and More on Severn. A very good restaurant.

I heard about this from a friend several years ago. I had a hard time believing him about the Country Time, but this is more confirmation that he may have been on to something.

Is the lemonade mix sweetened or unsweetened? (I’ve never had the tea.)

I can confirm this. I watched them pour multiple country time lemonade mix containers into the tea vat while eating at the bar a while back.

I'm assuming sweetened because the tea itself is extremely sweet. Definitely not keto friendly!

Why are pine nuts considered optional?

when Green Olive was open in Lafayette, the owner George shared with me his recipe for Lebanese Tea
Lipton powdered ice tea mix, lemon flavored
Rose Water - strong as you don't need much ... add a Tsp, mix, and taste
pine nuts
been making this way at home since the 1990's
