Popular restaurant Le Creolé will move from its current location off Highland Road to a yet unannounced spot nearby, while an Abbeville-based oyster and seafood restaurant will take its place at 18135 E. Petroleum Drive.
Wayne Stablier, owner of Le Creolé and several other area restaurants, says he can’t disclose where exactly the restaurant will be moving because the deal has yet to be finalized, but adds “it won’t be far from where it was.”
Taking the place of Le Creolé will be Shucks, featuring a menu focusing on fresh Louisiana seafood and chargrilled oysters.

Ya, Maine Lobster and New England Clam Chowder would make so much more sense

We had a group of 6 last week @ La Creole, when I called to make a reservation they acted like it would be a stretch to fit us in. When we walked in we were the only people in the place.
Lunch is definitely a better deal than dinner there

Thanks for the link. Frankly, I've been wondering about the place on Jefferson...
Prime means very high prices. Somebody has to pay for this mistake and he hopes it ain't going to be him. It sure as poop better be something special. I say, good luck, sir.

“Construction is going to start on that restaurant in the next two weeks, but it’s going to be a longer process,” Stablier says. “That’s probably eight to nine months out.”

Yeah, cause that or another fried seafood house offering grilled oysters are the only two possible options.

There used to be (maybe still is?) a place by Belle of Baton Rouge called Shucks on the Levee. Is this the same Shucks or a different one?

Let Creole is awful...and very expensive for what you get...great idea and concept but awful high priced food do not go

Okay, I won't go to the Highland location any more.

Not "original" enough?

I'm guessing the former The Grill and former Galatoire’s Bistro space on Perkins.

Didn't realize it was already closed, that didn't last long

You could also replace Le Creole with The Little Village.
Good for a salad at lunch, but that's about it. I ordered the seafood pasta one time and it came in what was probably an 8 oz bowl. Pretty sure it was >$30 too.

I've always loved LV because I order lasagna. It's like $14 and comes with a salad.

My son goes to Mount Carmel so we stop and eat there every so often on Friday afternoons. I begged them to open up a place in LC. LC is severely lacking in the casual oyster bar type establishment. We have Chastains, but they only have raw and every time I order them I swear I'll never get them again. There is also Pat's, but who wants to drive all the way out there to eat a couple dozen oysters and again, only raw? I would love to have a place that had an oysters happy hour, but for now one can only dream. Maybe the new Walk Ons will have decent oysters?
