Not a kamado dude, but I use lump whenever I'm grilling. The best I've found so far is Cowboy's. Every other brand I've tried is inconsistent with the size of the lumps...i'll either get crumbs or whole logs.

The Kamado Joe brand (which is actually Wicked Good Lump in the KJ bag) is good. Lots of big pieces.

I can't link it right now, but Consumer Reports testing showed no difference between briquets and lump for taste, heat or longevity. Lump is more expensive, maybe when I run out of my stockpile of lump.....

taste or longevity I might can see.....but heat? The physics alone says lump burns hotter.

Not to mention that briquettes create more ash and could block vent holes on a long cook.

Rockwood. Most consistent I've come across. Pretty much every other brand I've tried had some type of debris in it. Never had an issue with this stuff. Really good chunks. Not super expensive. Can find for low 20's per bag.
