Mowata store back in the 90s was the tits. Haven’t had it in a while.

I like both Kartchners and Best Stop better than Billy’s. Although, I don’t think Best Stop is quite as good since they switched over to the processing plant…. It’s still the best andouille though.

Friend,

You have chosen wisely. Kartchner’s is the four time winner of TulaneLSU’s top 10 boudin stands.

Yours,

Have y'all been to that little place in the hood that has the cracklings everybody says are the best?

It's a small grocery/meat market type place all the brotha's hit for lunch.

Man that brings me back. Growing up I loved Veillon's and when I was still out that way in adulthood I'd grab some every time we were doing something for the game and threw it on the grill.

It definitely ranks up there but it's been ages since I had it

He returns!!!

Friend, I had planned to feature you in upcoming edition of "Private Dicks" and here you are! For joy! I hope you and mother are well. This pseudo-front day is glorious, is it not?

Anyway back to writing. I'm on the epilogue. I do so hope you'll read it. This place isn't the same without you. Stay a while

Sincerely, Fr33

Rank em, Kartchner's, Billy's, Best Stop.

I posted on the Food Board a year or so ago about the blind boudin test my family did one day. We bought from Best Stop, Billy's, Kartchner's, Don's and NuNu's.

Out of the 21 people we had 14 picked Best Stop. Don's and Billy's were tied 3 each. 1 picked NuNu's. No one in the entire family liked Kartchner's.
I had no dog in the race but got accused of having something against Kartchner's I always liked Don's but to my surprise picked Best Stop. I had tried Kartchner's two times prior and did not like it as it tasted like rice and gravy in a casing. I was able to pick it out fast b/c it tasted the same. I did try it before at its original location (Krotz Springs) and thought it was good but tasted nothing like the one in Scott ? I wouldn't hesitate to buy Billy's, Don's or Best Stop.

30 years ago the undisputed king of boudin was Poche's ! After they started mass producing for grocery stores and shipping all over the country it just wasn't the same, but it's still pretty damn good.

I’ve never had Kartchers so I cannot comment. Billy’s for the egg rolls and boudin balls. Best Stop for the smoked boudin.

I go Billy's for the boudin balls and Kartchner's for everything else boudin related.

Eunice superette (now just The Superette) used to be my favorite. I heard the one who made the boudin now makes it for Eunice Poultry and Market down the street. Boudin, like gumbo, is very personal. My grandfather had a meat market in Sunset where Josephine's is now located. Best boudin and cracklins ever.

I will say the boudin ball at Kartchner's (jalapeno cream cheese) is the best one I've had.

Don's is the best. End of discussion.
Don's is the best when they are on top of their game. The difference is variance batch to batch. The best boudin I've had was from Don's, but they are not as consistent as the other three.
