The homerism on this board isnt for Jay (who would be at home on food network) its for Louisiana/tailgate food.

The Louisiana food angle was previously plowed thoroughly by FN via multiple Emeril shows over the years. Tailgating is a different view of the same ground. Plus the average demographic viewer of FN doesnt give two shits about tailgating. Unless its pinterest themed.

Would be awesome for them to somehow tie in the football aspect and sports into the show. That could be interesting and increase viewership! Get a deal with ESPN and maybe they won't hate LSU anymore!

I have a question. Have they already filmed the finale? Didn't I hear something about viewers voting as part of the selection process?

I assume that if that's the case, they will show the first half of the show (I assume it's recorded, as well), which will ask the TV audience to vote and then show the correct ending once the votes have been tallied.

Does that sound about right?

I would watch this. And the tailgate idea would be fantastic too. Heck, even the lame tailgate places. They could have a custom tailgate setup for him and he could hit sports venues all over the country. Not just football or even college and pro sports.

Surely they won't put him on the fried version of some sort of DDD and Man v. Food fusion?

I think the pilot thing was just to see what they look like as show hosts.

Yeah that'd be awesome.

I certainly hope so because the idea of it is pretty stupid

Yes, they filmed three different endings, with each finalist winning.

I think they have done that in the past, but this season it's all based on who the judges/suits want to win.

The show you are describing would be perfect for Esquire. Sort of like a Brew Dogs or Best Bars but based around the foods of a region seen through lens of tailgating experience.

But does anyone really think FN would air that in between Cupcake Wars and Pioneer Woman?

Dunno, but in todays world there are more men in the kitchen than ever before... And the grilling/outdoor/throwdown shows have gotten popular.

I think that concept, while likely successful but unlikely a blockbuster, would pull a unique demographic towards FN.

I like the tailgating theme better than the "fried stuff", too. I think that tailgating pulls in people who don't necessarily tailgate because the dishes would also be great for outdoor entertaining, in that the food should be be relatively simple to do, and prep can be done ahead of time.

Thanks. I read that they filmed the three endings, but I was wondering if they had filmed the entire episode.

It's too bad Arnold was eliminated, because I would like to see his take when he got to fake winning. I think it would be hilarious.

Too bad the people's voting won't be considered...

If there's room for a show about the Pioneer Woman making nachos and baking brownies for her husband and kids on FN, there's surely room for a tailgating show with Jay.

Fairly certain Guy had a tailgate show that was on air a few years ago. I remember the jambalaya girl was on it. It didnt last.

Look, the FN executives have data and a strategy that no one knows but them. So its likeky they have a show idea and are looking for a host to fill it. Now it might be tailgating, it might be Thai food, but they are the ones who are going to decide what the show is about.

And again Louisiana food is probably not on their radar. And outdoor cooking is handled via the Bobby Flay brand.

You keep harping on this, but please name another regional food style that gets talked about more.

Italian... that's probably the only one.

They want to do a travel show... why else would they film them all doing similar pilots?

Yup, and they already have how many "Italian" shows/chefs?

I think a travel tailgate show during football season would do extremely well.

Agreed, and it would help them fill a market that probably isn't currently their best.

Problem is, both Jay and Eddie would probably excel in that role.

Too bad iron chef hasnt played anything new in a long time.

FN needs to embrace the fact that more men are cooking and you have fewer housewives sitting around watching those horrific cheesey Trishas Southern Kitchen and Girly Decorating 101 shows all day.

Every year FN does a huge marketing campaign on tailgate/grilling/outdoor cooking. Why cant a tailgate show work and excel as well?

Yeah. The watch this person cook in the kitchen show worked when there were a handful of celebrity chefs, but now they are a dime a dozen and the traditional cooking show is pretty boring.

I used to put FN on in the morning and just leave it in the background all day and I'd learn something new or catch something that was cool. Now a show will come on that aggravates the piss out of me and I can't even stand to have the TV on.
