never had this place and am pretty pumped that Lafayette is getting one. anyone who eats around town here knows that Lafayette does not have a jambalaya place. Is this the answer for town?

I don't think it's anything to write home about.

If you like dry, flavorless jambalaya then you are in luck. Just about anyone can make better jambalaya at home. At least that's been my experience.

They are building one of these in Houma right now. I had no idea what type of business it was...I initially thought they sold cooking supplies.

If it's not up to par it won't last long in Houma. Most ppl in town can cook pretty good jambalayas.

I always thought that the jambalaya was really good and consistent.

I was surprised to see this myself. Really a bad time to open up down here. Not very much leeway between the economy and Walk-On's right next door. Will have to do a lot of catering or business lunches imo.

always thought their jambalaya was dry and needed some more flavor.

their pastalaya has always been much better, IMO.

btw, alexander's on highland near i-10 has some really good jambo on the weekends.

It won't last. After the initial rush and 'newness' wears off it'll be all downhill until they shutter.

If you call around and find out which plate lunch place has jambalaya that day you'll probably get a better product for cheaper

I've tried Alexander's jam a couple of times and rated it just a notch above the benefit jambalaya's.

Seems like Laffy shouldn't/wouldn't need a mediocre Jambalaya Shoppe with all the yummy Coonass food places it has.

The Jambalaya Shoppe is consistent mediocre jambalaya. However, with that being said, it's one of the best that one can consistently get from a restaurant. While it won't compare to what many people can cook in their homes, it is a solid joint that satisfies the craving.

Their gumbo is really solid, even better when served over jambalaya rice.
