Then there's also the Mississippi River flooding, low oxygen levels in Basin, too much salinity in aquifer used to flood rice fields, to many full moons, raccoon and birds overeating, reparations, blah, blah, blah....

im well aware of supply and demand. I just think its funny how they have an article 3 weeks ago talking about how great a year we are having for crawfish. 3 weeks later, supply is short and the exact things providing us with a bumper crop is now raining the the misery of a "slowdown". Be truthful and say, we jack up the prices during lent every year because we can, and you will pay it. Why lie?

fin vehemently defends the crawfish farmer's actons because he himself is one or is affiliated with it i believe.
The point is, stop playing victim. Don't say anything. Prices go up after mardi gras, and go down after easter. always have, always will. Stop trying to pass off the price fixing as "weather" or "plagues" or whatever other bullshite reason they think up.
Don't publish articles saying what a bumper crop season it is, only to rescind those comments weeks later in efforts to soften the price gauging to the public. Just say, don't have so many boils and they'll be cheaper.
I've said this before in past crawfish threads...More people than ever boil crawfish. When i was growing up I knew one family that boiled all the time in nola. Now its common that i can't find a person that doesn't host 2-3 a year.

It still may end up being a great year, but that doesn't mean that for this week, with colder weather and freaking mardi gras going on that there might end up being a spike in prices due to that supply/demand thing.

Only excuses you'll ever hear from me are:
1. Not enough crawfish to meet demand so price is going up
2. We have too many crawfish and the market is choked up, price is coming down
Everything else is bullshite to satisfy reporters
