For the first time in my life I’m celebrating Christmas Eve with an Italian family.
Half my family is dead, the other half have drinking or drug problems, and I didn’t want to spend Christmas alone.
A coworker of mine who’s originally from the North was nice enough to invite me to his party.
I thought it was Christmas Day, but it’s actually Christmas Eve. He told me that’s what they do and it’s all fish.

What am I going to be eating here?
I like fish, don’t love it, more of a comfort food guy myself. Should I be excited for this? Or will it be disappointing?

It will probably be a feast of 7 fishes (seven different dishes) and normal sides

Hopefully you'll find something you like! Enjoy the company, and get waffle house later if you're still hungry.

It will be amazing. JW Fins actually served this style meal for past week. I guarantee you will like over half of the dishes and there will be more food than you know what to do with.

Ever had Branzino? Great tasting fish. Expand your horizons and enjoy, not being alone on Christmas.

7 fishes. My neighbors wife is from jersey and her Italian grandmother always hosted the 7 fishes dinner when she was alive so our neighbor hosts her own version of it for a few families each year. It's awesome. Crawfish is now one of the 7 fishes thanks to me.

Man, you are in for a real treat! They have invited you to the feast of seven fishes. You can look forward to all kinds of fish and shellfish cooked in the same ways you are used to eating them. One thing you will likely not be familiar with is a stew called Cioppino, which is a tomato sauce-based stew with fish, mussels, shrimp, etc. if they have this, don’t miss trying it!
