Is there anywhere good to eat in Pasadena, TX?

Been here for two days now, and God damn, I have been disappointed. If feels like every restaurant is a typical under-seasoning chain that caters to people in the midwest.
Bubba's 33: Burger had no seasoning cooked into it. Supposedly there was some special sauce on it. I tasted nothing. This was supposed to be their signature burger. Lee's drive-through by my house in Metairie is light years better.
Johnny Tamale: Extremely disappointing. Queso was one hunk of greasy cheese. I had to cut it with a knife, and gave up after a couple of bites. It was hot when I got it, but that did nothing. Tamales actually had no flavor at all. It was odd to eat something with absolutely no taste. The place is named tamale, and the tamales sucked. I didn't eat all of that dish either (only 1.5 of the 3 tamales). My drink was the best part of the meal.
I'm now thoroughly aggravated at the food here. I've never been somewhere that the food was just upsetting. These places were rated 4+ stars.
If yall can offer any help, I'd appreciate it. Looking for American, BBQ, Mexican, or non-fried seafood, or frick, just one good meal....something. Gonna be here until the end of the week, and I don't feel like eating frozen dinners in my hotel room

Think there's a waffle house down that way.

It's Fast-Mex, but don't rule out Taco Cabana.

Just go to don Qui and drink. There's everclear in them there margaritas.
Otherwise, make the 10 minute drive south to Clear Lake. There are endless options there. Start with a pork chop at Perrys.

Brisket House in Deer Park
Monument Inn
La Montana
Burger Libre
There is a Pappadeaux’s on I10 and Federal RD
Salt Grass off the Beltway
That’s about it...take the 15-20 minute drive into town and you’ll have much better options...El Tiempo or Ninfas on Nav are easy to get to via surface streets to avoid 225/610 traffic.

If you are into Ramen try Otsuka Ramen and Bar on Spencer Hwy.
Get the potstickers and garlic ramen. I stop there every chance I get when I am in town.

Thanks. Will try those out. Once you get rid of all the chain and wannabe chain places, it seems pretty sparse around here

The Donkey still there?

Ray's BBQ Shack and Killen's BBQ are probably closest good BBQ options
El Tiempo is not terribly far away for very good tex-mex (get the Carne Asada).

Welcome to the burbs...most of those places around Pasadena/Deer Park stay open simply because of the business from the plants...anything to make a turd.

I had to go to NAPA for a gas cap, and I passed by Donkey on the way, so I stopped by. It's pretty good Tex mex. Not the best I've ever had. I'd put it on the level of Caretta's and Superior. Hot (temp) salsa for the chips, which is unique. It tasted good. Combo fajitas were good as well. I felt like everything could've used just a little more flavor, but that could be my South Louisiana tongue tasting it.
The waitresses would all be considered wealthy in Roman times, and were all very nice. Lots of MILFs eating there.
Donkey = 7/10
