on another note, one of the guys from the Cellars of River Ridge split from them and just opened his own little place called The Ridge in the strip mall right behind the Cellars

Interesting. I had the Cellars on my rotation for lunch. Kind of laid back for me and I liked the food well enough.
I am guessing this new place is near where Cafe What is/was?

The Shimmy Shack has been very much average for food based on the 4 or 5 times I have been there over the past two years.

I think Shimy expected more business based on their name and owners. Id venture to guess that it hasn't gone exactly how they thought, but they are surviving for now

I think they're funny.

They aren't trying to be something they're not. They're a neighborhood joint and they treat you like neighbors. The food is decent. Nothing to write home about but it works for nights you don't feel like cooking.

Yea, its in the Cafe What space.

The taller goateed gentleman from the Cellars, who i think actually was the man behind their food and was also the wine expert at the Cellars, is the owner of this place The Ridge.

I have worked in Harahan for like 18 years and never heard of that place.

They only made it a year or so is my guess. Good salads and soups and possibly an ok catering choice.

These small places just can't make it on the lunch crowd with no alcohol.

I work in Harahan, so at lunch I've been to a bunch of places in the area. Actually, I was at the Shimmy Shack today. Got a BLT po boy that had fried green tomatoes on it. Not bad for lunch and the price. It's a place that won't set the world on fire, but it's good for a quick meal every once on a while. I find that their service isn't that great. If it was, I might go there more often.

Harahan might as well be Cincinnati or Little Rock for me. Get out there about as often.

You're absolutely right. Even my favorite, Kyoto 2, is still just a lunch spot for me.

I don't like The Hen since the move either, although I've only been once to the new place. They should have stuck to the diner atmosphere and menu.
