I went for the first time yesterday and I got that vibe. All the produce looked fresh and the layout is a lot like Publix. It also seemed pretty pricey.

Kroger here in nashville is Waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than Publix.

Just compare the price of coffee and meat.

No, Publix is the gentrified version of Kroger, at least in my area it is...

i think it's a city by city thing. The krogers in Dallas are nice but cheaper than our other options.

So a major company like Kroger copied a regional chain. Got it!

The Kroger that I go to is trash. Like, white girl trashy.

Publix = Target
Kroger = Walmart

The Kroger’s here have a huge food court type area with a beer and wine bar.

I think a lot of this just depends on what area of a city you are in. Are you in a nice suburb or downtown? That weighs in a ton on how much space the place can have as well as how many "frills" can be included

There is a lot of variability in Krogers

I have been to some shitty Krogers and some that are almost like a Fresh Market

Wegmans>Publix>Kroger>Food Lion

We have all of those plus Lidl, Aldi, and Fresh Market in VA. Giant and Harris Teeter are in NOVA so I don't conclude those. I choose Wegmans for price, selection, and quality. Publix is nice and carries many southern foods/brands, but is noticeably expensive compared to Wegmans and Kroger. Kroger can be a real hit or miss on quality, especially with produce.

The Kroger I go to in Collierville, TN is legit. Drive a few miles down Winchester to the closest Kroger in Memphis, and it is shite

Nowhere close to being Publix. It's a nice store but the deli compared to Publix leaves a lot to be desired.

I miss Publix. Most of their deli stuff is pretty great. Kroger seems to overcook it, whatever it is. Fried chicken is bland, can't really speak about deli sandwiches but Publix makes some amazing sandwiches.

Their fried chicken and hot wings are amazing. If we had one here, I'd be there probably twice a week.

Publix isn't worth the big price difference over Kroger. And the Kroger's here in Nashville are nice. Mine is right across the street from a publix and I never go into the publix.

The one on Houston Levee is alright. The "flagship", for lack of a better word, is the one on Farmington in Germantown, right around the corner from both Whole Foods and Trader Joes. The one on Winchester, across from Lowe's, feels dirty and like it hasn't been updated in 20 years.

Sadly, in and around Memphis, our choices for full grocery stores are Kroger and Kroger. And then there's Kroger.

This is the one I'm referring to when I say a few miles down the road in Memphis. You can tell a lot of the shoppers from that one on Winchester have started driving the extra few miles to go to the Houston Levee location in the last year or so
