I know it will get downvoted, but my wife cooks ribs for 30 minutes and they turn out really good. Salt, pepper, bbq sauce and apple juice and 30 minutes for tinder ribs. Not bad on a Tuesday evening.

How much liquid? High or low pressure? Country ribs or baby backs? TIA.

I make the green lentil curry I mentioned earlier from that site regularly and trust her times.

Nothing ever tastes quite as good as the stove top. I would only buy it if you live a fast paced life and don’t have time to cook. Otherwise you aren’t missing anything

You’re downvoted, but you’re not wrong. I’ve used my IP less than 10 times and had it 3(?) years now.

It just isn’t necessary for my lifestyle. Sometimes I’ll force myself to make an Instant Pot recipe to say I got use out of it, but rarely is it actually needed.

Anyone have a favorite site for Instant Pot/pressure recipes?

The Great Big Pressure Cooker Book has a lot of really good recipes. A lot more involved and interesting than some of the ones you see on the bargain rack at B&N or from some lady’s blog

The 8 quart is enormous. The six is fine. We use ours all the time. Beans, broth, steaming, you name it.

My wife makes Greek yogurt in it. Comes out pretty good.

She also made a white bean chicken chili last week that was really good.

The spaghetti she made was good, but not as good as her normal one.

I can definitely understand the "not quite as good" comments, but it probably just takes some trial and error like mentioned above. Some people probably use it and say it's not as good as what they already cook, but fail to realize the first time they made that meal on stove top it probably wasn't as good as it is now either.

I just bought one a few weeks ago. Huge time saver. Easy clean up.

Short ribs - 45 minutes

Potatoes and eggs (for potato salad) - 6 minutes (Easiest peeling eggs ever)

Ya, if you have time to start dinner in the early afternoon on a stove top, I'll agree that it probably ends up better than using the IP in most cases.

However if you're in a dual-working family, the ability to come home from work and eat a good meal before 8 or 9pm is worth it alone for having an IP.

During the week the IP and gas grill gets used heavily. On the weekends is when I break out the smoker, dutch oven, sous vide, etc.

We prefer the stove top pressure cooker. It cooks at higher pressure (15 psig instead of 11 psig IP) and higher temperature (250 F instead of 242 F IP).

The IP is more convenient for sure but it doesn't cook as fast. Our pressure cooker is large enough for a small 11 lb turkey.

Got my first Instant Pot of red beans cooking now. Also snagged a big sale pack of chicken thighs and a small Boston butt for my next two cooks: chicken calamansi adobo and some kind of pork (dunno what just yet). Thanks for everyone’s IP input.

Recipe called for 40 mins, but I’ve only got 25 more to wait. Sorry I was unclear.
