2nd time going and I wanted to like it but...the cornbread appetizer was stale and hard, the crawfish dumplings smelled like grand isle bait and the boudin balls were served in a bowl of horseradish mustard sauce.

Though I did enjoy the cucumber lime beer.

Angelo Brocoto's is close by too if you'd like to walk over after dinner.

That's gotta be at least a mile walk.

The ONLY way to order that is for desert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

I would suggest Emeril’s or Miss River.

It’s 3 blocks up, 1 block down.

0.3 miles according to my map and 7 minute walk.

At the Monteleon, you are within a few minute’s walk to dozens of the best restaurants in town. You said that you don’t need a 5* and that is fine, but you might as well take advantage of your opportunity.

The closest is Mr B’s right across the street.

If you want seafood, I would go to GW Fin’s.

Doris Metropolitan is the best steakhouse around or Dickie Brennan’s if you want to go a little more downscale.

My favorite place to go around there is Galatoire’s.

Why are posters such pussies when it comes to New Orleans? It’s amazing.

Is there another Brocatto's? I'm thinking of the one on Carrolton.

I Googled "Walk hotel Monteleone to Brocato's"

I think it's just a way to take a shot, just like taking one at BR.

Crime is actually down in Nola.

It was a joke. Nobody is more of a homer than me!!! But I wouldn’t even walk that, especially at night.

To the OP, please disregard the Mr. B’s recommendations as well as the Galatorie’s rec. Mr. B’s is pretty much a tourist trap and I would only recommend Galatorie’s for a Friday lunch.

I have enjoyed every meal I've had at both these restaurants as well as the atmospheres in both when I lived in New Orleans and now that I live away.
