have a buddy who's from a small town out west. they had a locally owned fast food salad place. you had every type of lettuce, topping (including meats and fish) and salad dressing imaginable. i'd love to see something like that

We're talking daydreams here, there's no point in being critical over something that would be fun for that person.
just when i thought i couldn't see a more hypocritical statement on TD, you took care of that ..

In Texas already they have something that I think is awesome. Wouldn't fly in Louisiana IMO. Theatre with big screen, bar type sitting (low round table with chairs all cushioned). Serves alcohol and food while u watch the movie. What u say south la? Would u go to something like that here?

Cool concept, but with the loud-mouthed assholes around here, you would miss more of the movie than ever.

I would open an Ice Cream Shop, call it 'Swensens', and put it in the LSU Union, right where the McD's is....
They had this absolutely legit version of what I grew up calling a Nutty Buddy some people call a country cone: waffle style cone, vanilla ice cream dipped in choc and rolled in chopped nuts. I could have been the size of a barn if I ate one of those everytime I wanted one. Instead, I allowed myself one per semester, and tested myself to see how far into the semester I could go before I went and got it.
Usually Jan/June/Sept FWIW
I hate McD's for whacking Swensons

Real German food from the old country which you can't freaking get here.

Italian style counter service bistro in a garden district neighborhood that people could walk to, NO TV's, to keep the assclown's away, seriously the best way ensure that you dont get douchebags in your place is no tv's, incredible how it changes your demographic, in a good way, you get serious patrons who want to engage in conversation with friends and family over a good meal and wine, beer, or liquor, jazz on the weekends and an atmosphere that evokes a lost slice of a society that had an appreciation for the simple things that makes life enjoyable

....and a titty bar on the other side of town

I'd like to open a healthy organic sandwich shop: fresh fish, chicken, turkey, etc. salads and serve fresh fruit, smoothies and protein drinks and call it Malibu deli.

Just dreaming, never going to do it...
If I could I'd like to open a micro brew place in an old building in downtown or off Government in BR. I've often said the Spanish Moon Bldg would be perfect for it. I'd offer more upscale "bar food" and local dishes.

Strickly to make money, I'd open up a Gray's Papaya in two locations--one in BR just outside of LSU and one in NOLA on Bourbon St.

A wild game restaurant - deer, rabbit, squirrel, dove, duck, alligator, etc (no nutria or opossum)

It would be called Aegean.

Make a trip to Vermont, that is all they have, after 2 days I was bored out of my culinary mind. I don't know if "food for people who hate food" would fly here, but good luck.
Me, I'd do a Creole/Italian, they have lots in New Orleans, not one here, the genre stops in Laplace. And no frickin' TV is a great idea, I thought it was a BR affliction, but after traveling a lot, it's everywhere.
