Just take them to Emeril's. It's as good as they'll be able to appreciate without being stuffy. Every out-of-towner I bring there loves it.

Uh, no.

Everytime I go to New Orleans, I eat Bourbon House at least once.

I've never had a better than average meal there. The banana cream pie is legit but everything else I've ever had their has been very average and, imo, lazy. But I've never been impressed with any of his places, to be honest. Always pretty underwhelming.

I will just say there are much better places for "one meal" in New Orleans.

I've enjoyed every meal I've had at Emeril's. All have been well above average. I'm not a fan of the banana pie, but I'm not a banana pie lover. I tasted it one time when we got it as one of the bazillion desserts provided at the chef's table. I really like the andouille crusted red fish. Delicious.

For the absolute best meal in NOLA? Price is not an object.

They're coming to BR for work, and then several of us are traveling to NO to meet up with some other friends only for one night to meet up for one meal.

I tried to convince them to stay in new orleans but they didn't want to.

They lived down this way before, so while some city culture is always appreciated, what I really want is to go eat a meal and have them walk out amazed.

I like Emerils overall, but I kinda agree w/ the above poster that it's not all that. I have found their desserts to be exceptional and their appetizers to be great, but their entrees for the most part are very meh. My last visit to NOLA was really bad and I'll never return there. Actually I've found Delmonico to be the most consistent of the group.

OK, I change my answer to Compere Lapin.

That won't work at Commander's, then. Sounds like they're more of a Peche group. I love Peche. Since money is not object, y'all could order from the raw bar, snacks, small plates, entrees for the table, sides and desserts. I love the place. I don't know if it's the BEST in New Orleans, but it's certainly one of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans and you'll have a good time eating there. Good energy and it's fun to order lots of things to taste. Create your own tasting menu. Jeans and polos are just fine.

For something a little different, but which is getting great reviews, there's Compere Lapin. It's casual, as well, from what I understand.

Are they eclectic eaters?

Compare is really good, but if they have 1 shot to checkout a Nola restaurant, i dont think that represents the city very well. Its what i was could carribean fare.
