People eat more unhealthy food, move less and rely on medications more. The majority of people just want a quick fix of their problems with a little pill.
I agree with that, but you can't simply "They're the experts. I think they know." Doctors are wrong sometimes.

Oh I know this too. What i dont get is the outright distrust some people have for doctors. I'm all for people doing their own research and asking questions but it can be problematic if you don't know how to filter out the junk science. Understanding how the human body works is hard to do on your own. Also, doctors aren't the only people to ask questions about health and diet. Nutritionists and dietitians (with the proper education) exist for a reason too.

This.
I always question physicians, nutritionists, trainers, pharmacists, etc. You can tell whether they at least are well versed on a particular subject. But, for the most part, they do know what they're talking about.
Again, it makes sense to maintain a reasonably healthy weight or, more specifically, percentage of body fat, whatever your diet may be. Get some exercise. Don't smoke or drink too much. And, yes, statin drugs work wonders for most people and don't affect most people's livers.

Sorry I missed this. I am way too late. What was your total cholesterol? And did they investigate the high ALT and further? Did you take the test the Monday after a big drinking weekend like the Superbowl or Saints playoff LSU NC game.
ALT being that high may exclude you from taking "statins". Which is NOT the way to go first anyway. I am already on Crestor. shite works. My worst numbers were total chol of 279 with triglycerides near the same and a slightly low HDL and high LDL. I tried diet and it came down a bit. I was just scared to end up like my Dad. He just had a spot check years ago for his jobs insurance change and his total cholesterol was 370ish with triglycerides of near 500 I think.
Point being I caved because you can't do shite about heredity. I have known people with total cholesterol of 700. Seen one at work around 1000. Some peoples liver just processes it wrong. This does not sound like you though. Vegans and China Study people will disagree. Some to the extreme that a raw and vegan diet will CURE cancer. Not bashing them, I just think misguided. Eating better IS a key to improved health but it can't cure everything.

Okay, I'm putting you on the spot. I walked my dog past Casamento's today and was thinking we should hit it up soon. When's a good time. Don't wuss out on me.
