I had given up bread for lent, just about killed myself with it on Saturday

Started out with beignets from Cajun Village in Sorrento, worked my way up to a big arse po-boy at Sammy's, then handled up on some girl scout cookies that I've had to stare at for a while. My belly was so bloated after that, I looked like a snake that ate a bowling ball. I'm good now, can go back to regularly scheduled programming. #breadfest2018

To be fair, if you had given up meat (or chocolate) and then binged on them, you'd have been just as bloated. It's not the bread's fault.

Even Jesus didn't give up bread for Lent.

No, you didn't. Life is about choices. You made a choice.

And he made the choice to give up bread for Lent. Don't be bringing your crackhead philosophy to the food board.

Apparently he went back to bread a day early and God made him pay for it.

It's fairly obvious that his choice was to give up bread...

First off lent is officially over noon Saturday. It is also now 46 days so those making severe penance can take Sundays off and fast 6 days a week. Try giving up gluten which is any thing made with wheat like bread cake etc even roux The wife has to live that way. I gave up beer last year but this year I was weak.

Exactly, Lent is over on Holy Saturday. I'm not even catholic, which one of my coworkers finds weird that I would participate in lent not being catholic. Lent is not just a catholic thing, it's a christian thing. It's supposed to help you get closer to God by fasting and removing obstacles in your life that are a hindrance to your faith. I gave up gluten before, it's pretty tough, but not much different from the paleo diet, which also excludes dairy. I just didn't cut out everything for paleo, and still ate rice, noodles, corn and other farmed/raised foods.
