I know yet another Northshore Chimes thread but that restaurant facility is impressive

They do it right when they build a facility. Their renovation years and years ago to the original location is unreal considering what it was before.

You would be surprised. Restaurants are expensive ventures when done right. It'll be nice this fall when the Bayou Overlook is done.

Yeah, in NY, LA, Chicago, SF... But the N'shore? Um, no.

quote:That is fricking stupid expensive for a restaurant and almost guarantees it will fail. The restaurant business is tough and I think one of the biggest mistakes new restaurants make is putting way too much into the space, and not enough into the food. So many places build a new building, when there are many options available to lease. Maybe it's just my conservative risk averse nature, but I'd get a loyal clientele hooked with good food, and worry about the space later.

I dont think it will have trouble paying for itself, every other location seems to do well.

We will see in a years time wether it sinks or swims. One thing going for it is there is very little like it on the Northshore. Second thing is that it is packing them in every night. Northshore eateries were slow to revamp for a new style crowd after Katrina. This new crowd eats out on weekdays. The chimes, IMO, is a right time, right place deal.

You can build the facility -- your customers are paying for it.

They will sell more than enough beer to pay for this place. Just one of those kind of places that you know will do well.

$30K revenue/day is real steady... Think it was a wise move. Northshore residents have highest household income in the state. Untapped and underappreciated market IMO. Plus, no real advertising or marketing expense. All word of mouth and "LSU memories".

it will stll take years to pay off a $7 million nut with interest at $30K/day ... then wait until a walk on's or something else moves right down the street ..
