Baby steps.
At least it looks like the comeback may be legit, finally, with actual machinery and equipment in place, this go round.

its never gonna happen
even if after 25 years they finally are ready to open, no one wants a job unless they get $25 an hour and arent expected to actually do anything.
the illegals who flock here get government checks each month that are 3 times higher their yearly earnings they made at home so they have no reason to give that up for a job

I feel like once a year for the past 5 years they drop a "we're almost there" article on us, and a year goes by, then another, then another, and each time is just another let down. I wish they'd quit blowing smoke up our asses every few months and just deliver.

If they do, they do.
If they don't, they don't.
Either way, I won't be fussed about it.

Why don't they rebuild on the MS Coast? Still local, and land is cheaper.

not sure but i think they already own the old property and have grandfathered in sweet tax deals if they reopen there.
but thats just speculation on my part
i used to fix some of their refrigeration equipt before it went under. it was tough because the whole place smelled like hubigs pies and you were always hungry when you left.
PS - no, there were no free samples allowed, not even for the workers. some BS health rules and such about packaging and sealing with date codes

Well that sucked. I once did some commercial A/C and vent work at the local factory that made the coconut "Long Boy" candy back in the late 70's.
We had about 3 days work and when we left the guys filled up our tool boxes with those long coconut sticks. I was in hog heaven since they were one of my favorite candies growing up.
Every once in a while my wife will come home with a small bag of the bite-size Long Boy candies and I love it.

I have a friend who lives on that block, the owners sold the property which was subdivided into residential lot with $1 million homes on it.

lol - my great grandma used to go there
Mr. Nick’s is ‘shooting for 2023’ - might be necessary in that neighborhood

I remember when they took money from a bunch of people for the re-opening and promised a case of pies in return. Wonder what they did with that cash?

I hope they make it.
But they have to do it right.
Will be a total disappointment if they aren’t the same as they used to be.
