Inventive? Memorable?

Haven't seen it recommended here often, or commented on. Thinking of going there next week with the old lady.

For the record, my current favorite places are Coquette, Compére Lapin, Maypop. Bored by Clancy's, Meril.

Is JE good and memorable enough to last?

Excellent pastas. I think it’s a little underrated

It's one of my favorites in the city. It gets some hate here for some reason.

Fresh pastas are great although I haven’t been since the new chef.

My favorites match yours, with the addition of Peche and recently Cavan.

I thought Josephine's was very good, but a bit boring.

I think the Ace brings enough traffic to keep it open and I thoroughly enjoyed my last meal there. They have a bangin' $9 pasta happy hour from 4-6 every day too.

That Coquette Sunday chicken is money.

I have no soggestion, but if a man/male referred to me as an “old lady”,he’d be an ex in short order.

It’s not cool though you may think so. It’s a stupid OT term.

Guess we know what VOR did to get the boot.

Try Seaworthy a few doors down.

It’s ok Milo .. limited menu. We walked in during the day, Saturday when they were doing brunch and did not like what we saw on the menu. Been there prior and was OK.

Walked down to SeaWorthy but wife did not want seafood so ended up at Public Service in the new NOPSI hotel. Pretty good tap list including Ghost.

Menu was much more interesting than JE. Enjoyed it and will check out dinner sometime.

No it’s not. I’ve had my old lady for longer than the OT has been around.

I bet bikers started calling their old ladies old lady back in the sixties.

Wow, who would have thought the OT was so popular that it's slang would make Webster's dictionary. Webster

When JE first opened, I thought it was excellent. They have changed chefs and I was kind of lukewarm on it the last two times I went. Its ok, maybe better than ok, but not great imo.

I do like Seaworthy a lot, but find it to be way too pricey for what it is.

Yeah good burger! Glad we checked out the new place though, so it turned out for the best.

I went to this place tonight and I can understand why some may hate it. I am a pretty tolerant diner so I would just rate it a C, but I could see how some would go lower.

Service over all was pretty lack luster. When we checked in for our reservation they got our name and someone went to get our table ready. She comes back and asked again for our name and if we had reservations. Strange, but no big deal.

It took a full 20 minutes to get a drink to the table. Our waitress was kind of whacked out. She messed up a few things with us and the couple next to us got the wrong fish dish put in for their order, so the husband ate his dish while waiting for her correct order to come out.
They tried to deliver a dish to our table that wasn't ours and later a drink that wasn't ours.

Food took forever to come out and this was a half full place.

I will say the food was pretty good for the most part. We had the cheese plate, their version of grilled oysters, a small pasta dish and the speckled trout.

I think the menu is too limited and they are trying to be too cute with the descriptions. Just looks gimmicky for several dishes.

This is what my dish was described as
Speckled Trout
mustard greens, bacon, field peas, hominy

Sounded like a nice plate of food. I asked how it was prepared and they said crispy fried fish and with the noted items. Ok, good.
It was thick chunks of fish and not crispy. It was basically a soup bowl of field peas, crowder, lima, and other stuff with the fish sitting in the soggy mess.
It tasted pretty good, but it wasn't what I was expecting.
Drinks were very much poured on the stingy side.

So I was pushing for Clancy's tonight and the wife wanted Josephine because a co-worker had been talking about it. She gets put in time out for the next dinner suggestion.
