How is Galatoire's for a Dinner?

I know Friday lunch is the thing to do, but every year on the 21st we do Revillion. This year she picke Galatoire's. I know reservations are on the second floor and all, but I don't care about the main dining room.
I know to wear my sport coat or a suit.
How is the food? I really just wanted to take this place off the list. It's the last of the old Fq restaurants I haven't been to.
Any recommendations? things to avoid?
Good cocktails?

Think its great for dinner. Same food, similar experience, its always a party on the first floor. Recommend when you arrive asking if you can sit on the first floor instead. Mostly because the better waiters work downstairs and that is 75% of the key to a great experience.
Cant speak to the Reveillion menu, but have always been a fan of the shrimp remoulade, the oysters rock, turtle soup, souffle potatoes, couple of cocktails, nice bottle of wine, and the steak or lamb chops.
Also, its particularly enjoyable to go to Galatoire's at night, say around 8 pm, have a cocktail, order a bottle of champagne, and ask them for fried chicken. Its some of the city's best.

Second the fried chicken as an entree or appetizer for the table dipped in Bearnaise Sauce on the side.

In all honesty, if you are doing Galatoire's for the first time, doing a Reveillion isnt going to be the best approach.
I tend to think of Galatoire's as the first real "small plates" restaurant in America. Just order all the appetizers you can stomach, drink, share, and watch the scene unfold, downstairs. Perfectly acceptable to drink a few old fashioneds, eat your weight in boiled shrimp, oysters, and crabmeat, and call it a night.

I enjoy Galatoire's for lunch or dinner. Any time is good for me.

I'd skip that menu and order from the regular menu, myself.
