Why would you give up something that is healthy for something that is not healthy?

Here's my thread where I tried it on a whim. It wasn't my favorite thing I've had, but it wasn't bad. The thread seemed to have ruffled feathers as the uv:dv ratio shows. Not sure why trying something with an open mind seemed to piss people off so much.

I can only speak for myself of course. Personally, I generally, with limited exceptions, don't care what a person eats, or why.

The problem I do have is that our corporate food culture in this country is horrible, and its inevitable results are all around us (morbid obesity, chronic disease, etc.). Couple that with a prevalent media messaging that tries to push the "meat is bad" talking point simultaneously with a "eat our processed oil meat substitute" talking point, all while using profits to endanger the natural food industry, and yeah, I get a little testy.

High cholesterol, and by “a lot” I mean 2 or so a month. Just replaced regular burgers with beyond meat burgers. I try not to eat many, because like you said, they aren’t healthy overall.

Not better than beef, and made of fake shite and chemicals. I don't know why anyone would choose it over regular beef. Doesn't taste as good and much worse for you.

I think the only reason to choose it over beef is for cholesterol reasons or because you are against eating red meat. That’s about it.

Only if you think dietary cholesterol is bad for you.

The fake meat companies use that aspect as a marketing tool. That alone is enough to make you question whether what we’ve been told about dietary cholesterol is correct.

To me they taste EXACTLY like the mystery meat burgers we used to get served in the high school cafeteria
