how good of a griller are you? for 100 bucks you could do up a good home meal with dry aged steaks from whole foods (if they have them at your whole foods) with some nice sides and a couple bottles of nice wine with a fancy mini-cake for dessert.
i'm sure flemmings is cheaper down there than up here, but i doubt you could get out of there for 100 bucks and really trot the dog. figure bottle of wine - 30, two steaks - 60, split one side - 10 and you don't have tip money left and no app or dessert.

does outback still have their "prime menu" with select prime cuts?
yes

That's absurd
I think the idea is that you (and a date/wife/gay lover, etc) can go to Outback and get pretty much whatever you want and spend about a $100, without thinking about how much every single item costs. At Fleming's, one can easily go overboard if they're on a budget. It's just a safer play. Most suggested NOT going to Fleming's unless you've got the extra money to burn.

I agree you don't need to be going to Fleming's if you don't have the money to burn. I just don't see the point of gorging yourself on terrible outback food instead. Just stay home and eat at the nice steak house less frequently than you would eat at outback.

Flemings is good, but inferior to Ruth's and Sullivan's for the money IMHO

Unless you're a.)trying to impress a client or a girl, or b.) on vacation, I can't see any reason to ever pay $100 for any meal you're going to flush away in the morning.
Then again, I dont drink wine, so it's much easier for me to dine cheaply.

Never thought of it that way.. Guess you see it as flushing your money down the toilet.
Personally I dont see spending that much for a steak that I can enjoy cooked at home. I prefer to spend my money on non-chain restaurants that offer an experience.

the reason I'm asking is because i'm being given $100 to a restaurant of my choosing and flemings is the only restaurant in BR i've yet to try...

Just do it Karma. It's worth it. I have been several times and for a steakhouse in BR it's about as good as it gets. I'm not a fan of Chris' since I'm not an attorney and Sullivans never was at the top of my list. Flemings is a different feel plus you can get about a hundred different wines by the glass which is a plus in my book. You can stay around a hundred or you can double that easy. It is what you make of it.
Believe it or not I'm a fan of Bonefish Grill. Happening joint.

If you have a free 100 to spend on it then yea go to Flemmings.

In Houston last night: Bottle of wine, 2 steaks (bone in filet), 2 sides, 1 port, 1 ice wine cost $330 with tip. You can't do it for $100 - unless you order 2 steaks and drink water.

don't lie like that... I'm sure there is one restaurant and at least one good one besides fleming's you haven't been to. If you are that tight after being given 100$ then you shouldn't go to fleming's b/c you can easily spend 100 more. Besides if you have been to EVERY restaurant in BR then spending 150-200 (without a 100 voucher) should be no big deal to you.

shite, how expensive was the wine????
You can get a great meal there, with drinks for $160 (for 2). No need to spend $330.

Who doesn't like Bonefish??? The bang bang shrimp and Chilean Sea Bass is money.
Pretty yuppy atmosphere around the bar, but the food is great.
