What do you guys like to mix up beyond the typical Worcestershire and basic spice of the traditional recipe? Feel free to add different options from just the cereal, pretzels etc as well.

Try adding some curry powder to the usual seasonings, plus some cashews and large flaked (unsweetened) coconut.

Or give it a “holiday” kick with a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or mixed apple pie spices along with dried apple chips and dried cherries or raisins.

If you have a smoker or grill look up smoked homemade chex mix recipes on youtube. Smoking it adds a great layer of flavor.

4 cups corn Chex
1 cup Cheerios
2 cups halves pecans
1 stick of butter
2.5 tbps lee perrins
2 tspn season salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Dump all dry ingredients in large round pyrex and mix with your hands

Melt butter add all spices and wooster and stir really good

Pour sauce over Chex and flip with spoon until all mixed

3 minutes in microwave; take out and stir with spoon

3 minutes stir

3 minutes

Shake bowl out over 2 overlapped rows of paper towels (like 5 towels on each row) and let it soak excess oil.

Transfer to air tight tupperware if there's any left after everyone starts picking at it.

Break up crispy Cheetos into 1/2 inch pieces and add. Buy a jar of mixed salted nuts w/o peanuts at Sams or costco and use it for the nuts.

I'm sort of a Chex Mix junkie, but none during my year of dieting. I'll just root for you.

I've seen tons of different things in there:

Cheez Its
Cheerios
Bugles
Wheat Thins
Mixed Nuts
Candied Nuts
M&Ms (plain and peanut)
Bagel Chips
Melba Toast
Goldfish

The possibilities are endless.

why? It comes out perfect with just the right amount of toasting.

I can knock out several huge batches in an hour with this system and only need to mess up 2 pyrex bowls.

Give it a try before you knock it.

I like the oven method. I usually do a lot more woostershire, crystal or tabasco, and cayenne, to go along with the seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, etc. I'll bake it for three hours total and mix once an hour. Butter and woostershire make everything better.

Add sesame sticks to your list. I love adding it to trail mix, so I’m sure it would be good in chex mix.

I typically make it with hickory wood, but any light fruit woods such as apple, cherry, pecan, and maple work well. Every time I've made it there are no leftovers. People love it.

Try deleting the onion powder and using tony's instead of seasoned salt if you want to kick it up a notch.

I actually have a batch in the oven while I'm making a few batches in the microwave.

The oven is better, but if you get the microwave method dialed in, nobody will notice.
