Opened up my stout and it was surprisingly good. Made a few simple changes and bought enough to make a 10 gal batch this weekend...

One hell of a grain bill

24lbs Maris Otter
1lb black patent
1lb black barley
1lb 40L
1/2lb chocolate

Gonna be crazyness on brewday

Hopefully that gets you over that brewing funk you were talking about slipping into Got to keep that thing full!

It worked

I ordered the second keg for my set up, and it should be delivered tomorrow. Will hunt for a fridge next week, but now I've got the itch to brew something to be ready to go in it

Homebrewing equipment question.

I got a nitro beer faucet for Christmas (frick yeah!) and I previously had a CO2 tank filled with beer gas (nitro/CO2 mix) for St. Patrick's Day... do I need a special regulator to run the tank or can I use the standard CO2 regulators?

when transferring from the brew kettle to the primary fermenting vessel do yall strain out the leftover hops or just let them go into the fermenter and strain at bottling time?

I strain them when transferring, and then usually rack once to let the hop remnants and yeast settle out before kegging/bottling.

I go from the brew kettle to the Carboy through a mesh strainer that's placed in a funnel. Helps aerate the wort and strain out and leftover pellet hops if I don't use a hop bag

You still rack brews that only call for primary fermentation?

I don't bother with racking to a secondary anymore, unless I want it to sit for a long, long time

Question about brew pots, does it have to be stainless or is a regular aluminum crawfish lot ok?

A lot of literature says to use stainless, but I've seen quite a few people use aluminum with no problems

I think the album is OK. His live shows are really good though. He really rocks out. What city are you in?

Lufkin

Was looking at the schedule for Gruene Hall to see if I could find a reason to go out there and saw they are playing there New Years Day.
