until you open them. I've had them stay perfectly fine for many months. The CO2 has no where to go.

Turn your pressure down to a couple PSI and give your bottles a cold rinse. Fill very slowly.

It's not ideal, but it works in a pinch.

Anybody here made a DIY drip tray?

I found one on barproducts.com for $15 ($24) with shipping, but i'd rather run to home depot and build one. Anyone here built one?

Does anyone use a pH meter? It seems like it would be another thing that I would have, yet never find a need for it other than to just play with the sour beers I am brewing.

Don't have one and don't use one.

Speaking of sour beers, drank some Hill Farmstead Arthur saturday. That is a damn fine beer. I collected the dregs and added it to my mason jar that has HF Dorothy dregs in it. One day i'll repopulate them when i brew a sour.

What was the purpose of asking? Thinking about getting one just can't decide if it'll actually be useful?

Some guy in Lafayette is getting rid of all of his supplies and he has an unopened pH meter he was going to offload for cheap. I opted that it was something that I didnt need to add to my list of unused equipment.

Thought you'd be talking about this guy unloading a bunch of stuff, but I don't see a pH meter for sale in this lot.

Either way, a bunch of homebrew stuff for sale if anyone's interested.

ETA: and a good looking kegerator complete.

Is converting pin lock kegs to ball lock kegs difficult? As far as i see, it's a matter of switching out the posts, correct?

Also, i couldn't get the poppets out of my posts. How do you do this, and if i had teh posts soaking in PBW (and i used my line brush to scrub what i could of the underside of the post) will that be sufficient?

It is not difficult at all. Best to buy them converted for you already unless you're getting them for free and spend the money to convert them yourself.

Ask me how I know.

Got free pin lock kegs to use in my kegerator on the compressor hump so I could fit 3 in there and ended up having to buy new lids and conversion posts and even a dip tube.

Keep in mind that they are shorter and fatter than ball locks so they can fit or not fit in some places compared to ball locks.

Probably so. Posts and poppets are weird sometimes.

this is pretty accurate in my case... I keep telling myself I want to measure pH at mash, pre-boil, post-boil, but I rarely do.

ETA: I had some stubborn poppets in one of my kegs. I threw the posts in some boiling water for about 5-10 minutes and they loosed up.

I can depress them, but i can't get them to come out. Maybe I just don't know how to do it. Wait, do you remove them from the under side?

Hi all. I bottled my Belgian Dark and Strong over the weekend and wanted to share a tip:

I cut a piece of the hose and attached it to the Bottling wand and the bucket and bottled accordingly. It was super efficient and easy for the one man shop. These are stock photos and not exactly my set up, but it works and I thought I would share.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I seem to have screwed up a setting somewhere in beersmith. I'm consistently a half-gallon shy of my pre-boil volume. This wouldn't have been an issue in the past, just top off with a half gallon of water because I was usually getting a higher than expected efficiency, but the last few batches where this has happened have yielded much lower mash efficiency, so when I top off I'm under my pre-boil gravity and subsequently under my OG
