Thanks, it's my design but had my engineer buddy do the schematic. Also tracked down a keg shell for my hlt. Just need to start building. We are thinking of using food grade hard piping for a much as possible. Can't wait!

So I left beer smith open last night, came back to print and my laptop rebooted. Lost all 3 recipes I had
Has happened to me before. Really wish they had an auto save feature built in.

after more tinkering
taking it down to a 4.5 gallon batch. That means I should have just over 5 gallons pre-boil, perfect for using my extra cooler and not having much, if any headspace in there. I also end up with a smaller batch if I screw this up and it sucks. I can always scale up if it turns out how I hope it does.
2.5 lb White Wheat
2.5 lb Pilsen
4 oz rice hulls
4 oz acid malt
mash @ 148 for 60 minutes
15 minute boil
.5 oz Spalt hops @ 10 minutes

I love my IBrewMaster. I don't know what I'd do without it.

I paid $27 for beer smith, which is fine, but they want an additional $8'for the iPad app. Is is worth it?

I paid 10 for iBrewMaster and its all I use. I go to the store and have it right there. It gives me alarms for when I need to move to secondary or bottle. Whatever I want it to do. It has timers for adding hops and boil additions. I have all my recipes in my pocket at all time. It's amazing.

I prefer the computer version. I bought the ipad app, but the full version is so much easier for me to work with, so I just bring the laptop out with me to brew. If I had it to do again, I would not buy the ipad app
that said, I do use it and the app on my phone to view recipes I put on the cloud

I have an app I use called brew pal that works real well too. I use beersmith most of the time but this one is good as a back up too. Can't imagine it was too expensive.

I used that one until I went all grain. Then Beersmith became much easier for me to use. Being able to formulate recipes on the PC is nice. And the info is easier to manipulate, then save to the cloud.

I find it plenty useful in all grain. I havent done an extract brew in a couple years now and I've used iBrewMaster exclusively with my all grain.
It may not give you as many hints on style characteristics as Beersmith though. I have a pretty good idea what Im looking for before using iBrewMaster so I guess that doesn't worry me.

your porter has changed two of my recipes now, to use the vanilla puree. Using it in the praline porter and going from cacao nibs to vanilla in my breakfast stout. I just don't get the chocolate flavor I want out of the nibs, and vanilla and coffee in an oatmeal milk stout sounds wonderful

I end up using BeerSmith 99.9% of the time bc I find it much easier to research and formulate recipes on my laptop.
I've been tempted to buy the mobile app in the past, but I can't see what I would use it for.

I posted this last night, but it was kinda late. Anyone see any additions I should make to my 3tier?

I have both. I like it. Though i do all recipe designs on the computer. I occasionally use the app for double checking my recipes (that i saved to the cloud) and for some of the timers. But typically, i just have the laptop open when i brew.
I also use the brewer's friend app for carbonation calculations and for fine tuning my equipment. It's free so no costs. But usually, i use beersmith for design, and brewer's friend for trouble shooting or style guideline levels (carbonation, color, etc...)

So i cracked a bottle of my 3rd Prime IPA. This will definitely be my best IPA to date. I want to get some out to some of you, for feedback, seeing as i can't find a competition to submit to that judges soon.

If some of you want, i can meet up at la homebrew one day and hand some out. Or, i can leave a few bottles there for y'all to grab, if Keith doesn't mind.

I will be in BR in a few weeks and plan to make a visit to Running Monk. If you get him any, maybe he will save me one

I'm sure I can get some to him. My wife's cousins wife works with him.
