I had brewed this saison for an office Mardi Gras party next week. My girlfriend told me not to take this beer to the party as it's that bad and made her nauseous it was so cat pissy. I really like this saison. It's borderline wit-ish from the cool fermentation temp.

Tell your GF to man up and tell anyone that complains of cat piss at the party that they are crazy or drunk or both.

I know Simcoe hops are notorious for cat piss smell. I remember reading about what causes that odor one time but can't remember what it was. I do remember it saying that some people are much more sensitive to it than others. Also, women have a heightened sense of smell when they are fertile or pregnant

Crazy reaction with that little amount of hops.

Weird that you got that from so little hops and I got nothing from 5 oz of hops in a pale ale

Yeah, who knew? Apparently Nelson Sauvin packs a punch.

And also a little beer porn. The difference 5 months makes on clarity. Plus brett likes to scrub out some proteins.

Haha. You ain't right RDS.

Don't y'all have cats?
Could she just be sensitive to cat piss smells in general?

I won't say how many, but yes, we have cats. I'm hoping a painless accident takes care of one. Plus my girlfriend works at a pet and garden center. So basically she's around cat piss 24/7. Maybe you're on to something.

It's something I have to reach back way way far to even comment on. My "cat piss" memory is likely just Simcoe in all actuality.

Put Brett under pressure and give it some time and it will clear up anything. I'm letting those Rye Pear Saisons w/ Brett sit with the hope that the Brett can do its magic.

Third is on the way. The 100% brett pale ale is the only one that she has approved of during her pregnancy, everything else has been too "stinky"

Did you open a bottle yet? I bet you'll get the aroma once it's all carbonated. The carbonation helps release the aroma.

I put one in the fridge last night to have tonight. It's only been bottled since 2/9, so not sure how much carbonation it will have but I'm tired of waiting

I REALLY need to find that keg fridge. And soon.

I need to make some adjustments to my current recipe and brew it again once it warms up. I had some sweet potatoes in it but that was a big miss. I'm going to drop those and up the rye, maybe add a bit of white pepper.

Another question. I'm trying to make a "brewery" label. I've made it in word. I basically took a picture, inserted into word. Edited the picture to the way I want it to look, and inserted text on top. However, when i go to save as jpeg, it only saves the original image with none of my editing.

Does anyone know how to save the image as i've edited it?

ETA: Nevermind, i figured it out.

Just designed my label for my IPA, i'm brewing next. Just don't know when i'll be brewing again. Deck building is eating up my weekends.

A little nose on it, nothing like I hoped for though. A very drinkable beer though, so it won't last long

Now that it's warmed up and I've investigated further, maybe it's just the way these hops are? These would be good to use in a beer that you may add fruit like pear. They certainly don't have an overpowering quality

Still, I will have no problem enjoying these

I have the 2 roller monster mill and can't recommend it enough. My efficiency has gone up 10-15% since using it. I have tried several different gaps and speeds on it and I think I finally have it dialed in. Some people said the stock gap was sufficient, but I had changed after I had 74% to see if I could get higher. Ended up with 81% and 79%.
