Fantastic. Team porter is prepared for tomorrow:

And yes, one of those does say Barrel Aged on it.

Aw yeah!

And your bookshelf looks just like mine. Cheap target shelf bowing under the pressure of beer books and magazines.

The few shelves above the books are all filled with glasses, but yes it is falling apart. I think it cost me like 20 bucks 5 years ago.

Forget the fridge... I'm getting me a street sweeper/vacuum

Wonder if you can use this thing to clean a mash tun.

Awesome. For 100 dollars that is a steal. Until you realize that you are buying something that probably doesnt work.

Damn, then I guess I shouldn't hold out much hope that the 36 year old $50 zamboni is in working order...

I was pumped about it until I saw the disclaimer that they have no guarantee that the stuff works.

Does anyone use a conical fermentor? I found a good deal on 2 V Vessel conicals but am unsure on the benefit of them.

At that price I'd pick them up. That stand that guy built is pretty slick.

Yea I jumped on them. Getting two stands and all the fixings for 100 plus a couple of bottles.

I have the feeling that the other Red Stick guys on here know him as he said he was getting ready for Zapp's.

Saw these on Monday and figured someone would pick them up pretty fast.

FYI, i updated the first thread of this post, and added links to the early home brew threads, for those that may have the same questions if they are just starting up. Goes back 3 years.

Brewed my coffee vanilla porter again yesterday. Easy brew day. Started around 9:00 and was all finished up by 12:30. Pitched the yeast starter, and the blowoff tube was seeing action an hour later.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to go all grain. It's not any harder than extract, and much more enjoyable than dumping pre-mix into boiling water.

What is going on with the barrel below? I’m guessing that is some type of bulkhead and ball valve but I don’t have any clue and can’t seem to find anything that looks like that on the internet. Anyone know?

I want to rig this up with something similar:

I'm aiming for this:

I could always just leave the 1/2 barrel as is but I have really come to loath racking, esp. that kind of volume. My goal is to do several batches in that this summer and then by the fall try a "spontaneous" fermentation where I let the microbes that have taken up residency in the oak kick off the fermentation.
