I picked up 5% from milling mine at home vs. Brewstock. I think if I replace my shitty cpvc manifold with a false bottom I can pick up some more.

Those of you that have bought grains from LA Homebrew, how well do they do milling over there? Same as Austinhomebrew? AHB has been the source for all of my grains in the past, just curious how LHB compares.

Got the grains for my first all-grain batch from them. Seemed just fine to me. Hit my expected OG with them. So there's that. I'll likely be buying from them for the forseeable future.

I really should brew this weekend, seeing that the wife will be out of town. I may call them up today and get an order put together to be picked up. The only problem, is i haven't tested the swamp cooler aquarium thermometer yet for my saison i want to make.

I would highly recommend LA Homebrew. Keep giving them your business and his store will end up being fantastic. It is great as it is now but has tons of room to grow and expand.

Brewed the Everett clone from October's BYO today.

Came in a few gravity points short, 1.088 vs 1.090, this will either be really good or an undrinkable sweet mess.

Everett is so good though. If it's close it's extremely worth it.

feel the same way. Have always been extremely helpful when I've dealt with him. Completely went out of his way to help me with the pilsner water question I had.

And to think, I probably screwed it up by forgetting my whirlfloc. I'll have to go but another batch from him to make up for it and pitch on this yeast cake.

Damn, that really sucks. Ron has always been a nice guy and super helpful.

I heard he was having some troubles, but never got any clear details.

Anyone order from Hops Direct or Farmhouse Brewing Supply? I am itching to do a big IPA but at $3.00 /oz hops add up fast. I played with the numbers a bit and can get Hops Direct down to almost a $1 /oz including shipping but have to get 5 lbs. Farmhouse can deliver them for about $1.50 / oz at a more manageable 3.5 lbs and offer more of the "hip" hops. My only worry is storing the extra hops.

How well do hops keep? Anyone want to go in on a order?

I've bought from hops direct multiple times. Good product. My hops tend to do okay, keep in freezer.

I do need to order some more.

I've had really good luck with hops direct in the past ordered a lb of citra and a lb of Amarillo earlier this year.

Pellet hops can last a really long time in the freezer. I've used hops that were frozen for almost two years and you wouldn't know the difference.

I dont know if want to do a pale or of some kind of wheat beer. Maybe a pinapple wheat. Are there any other online homebrew stores with free shopping?

I don't know about free shipping but a pineapple wheat sounds interesting. The fruit stand buy us seems to always have pineapples on clearance for $0.99 each. The biggest drawback to me with pineapples is that they are a pain in the arse to clean.

I moved my 100% brett pale ale to the dry hopper today and hit it with 3 oz of Simcoe. I was a bit worried that it would be too malty with 25% Belgian munich but its not at all. In fact, it is just a bretty fruity citrus bomb. I can't wait to get this bottled up and drinking.

What did everyone brew this weekend?

I brewed a Pale Ale for some friends on Saturday.

On Sunday I tried to harvest some yeast from a beer and Im not sure I really accomplished that, still, overall a pretty good weekend.
