My great-grandmother, God bless her, gives out tins of that stale arse popcorn every year. No matter what we tell her, there it is.

Nothing says " I phoned it in" for a holiday sweet more than a goddamn sugar cookie. I'm stunned that some people even bother to try kicking it up a notch by sprinkling colored sugar on top.

what about those "gift baskets" with the teeny tiny summer sausage or other unidentifiable "meat item", 4 crackers, and a couple of petit fours? And usually 1 hard candy wrappe dup like a strawberry. The horrors.

This.

Extra fail points if bananas or the color green is utilized.

Stale coconut flakes seem to pop up as an ingredient this time of year too.

YES YES YES, all this shite sucks. The only thing i like that is a little on the weird side is my aunts cheese and potato casserole that she puts corn flakes on top of. This is why I hate holiday food. Why does this shite continue? If it's so good, why don't we eat it year round?

I would hardly consider these weird items as part of holiday food. More just things that seem to show up around the holidays.
When I think good holiday food, I think cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, etc.... ALL things I'd happily eat year round :)
